Sharon Osbourne Defends Kelly Against Trolling Over Her Drastic Weight-Loss, 'She Lost Her Daddy..'

Losing a parent can be hard at any age, and no one is immune to the deep, heartbreaking echoes of pain, no matter what walk of life you're from. It's the same for Kelly Osbourne, who lost her father, Ozzy Osbourne, earlier this year. However, amid that, she has faced harsh criticisms from trolls over her drastic weight loss following her first public appearance. And now 'mama-bear' Sharon Osbourne has taken the reins, bashing the critics for judging her grieving daughter.

Sharon Osbourne defends daughter, Kelly Osbourne, against trolls

Sharon Osbourne will protect her children at all costs, and she made sure that the world knew that during one of her recent appearances. Yes, when the actress appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored, she defended her daughter against the trolls, setting the record straight, once and for all. Sharon revealed that Kelly has been having a tough time since Ozzy's death in July 2025.

Sharon, whose husband and late rock legend, Ozzy Osbourne, died earlier this year, came to her daughter's defense after online trolls attacked Kelly's appearance. While speaking about trolls who have been taking to the internet to poke fun at Kelly's weight loss, Morgan shared a video that Kelly recently posted in response to the trolls on social media. The video unlocked Sharon's 'mama-bear' mode, and she instantly defended her daughter. She was quoted as saying:

"She's not happy, she lost her daddy. She can't eat right now. [The internet] is a shield for people who are unhappy. Jealousy and people's perception of somebody else — how many times have we been wrong about somebody because of our perception? A lot of effort goes into [hurtful comments]. I feel sorry for people. There's something wrong with their lives. They're not happy."

Kelly Osbourne had previously opened up about being scrutinised for her appearance as well

This is not the first time Kelly has been trolled for her appearance. Earlier this year, Kelly Osbourne opened up about the scrutiny she's endured over the years due to her physical appearance. The reality TV star got candid during a panel at the Inaugural Beacher Vitality Happy & Healthy Summit at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. According to People, she was quoted as saying:

"We live in a fat-phobic world. I have been a drug addict, an alcoholic…I've been a complete mess, disrespectful to people, horrible...but I got more s---t for being fat than I did for anything else. It's insane."

During the same interaction, Kelly described how, when she was heavier, she often received backhanded comments, including people telling her to lose weight and saying that "then you’ll be the total package." In August 2025, she also spoke about her father, Ozzy's demise, and thanked the fans for the immense support and love they have shown her and her family. She added:

"The love, support, and beautiful messages I've received from so many of you have truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life. Every kind word, every shared memory, every bit of compassion has meant more than I can ever explain. Grief is a strange thing; it sneaks up on you in waves. I will not be ok for a while, but knowing my family is not alone in our pain makes a difference. I'm holding on tight to the love, the light, and the legacy left behind."
