Shatrughan Sinha On Sonakshi's Wedding With Zaheer Iqbal, 'Who Will Stand By My Daughter If I Don't'

Sonakshi Sinha is living the best time of her life with her husband, Zaheer Iqbal. The duo tied the knot with each other on June 23, 2024, after dating for seven long years. However, there was a constant buzz that Sonashi's parents were unhappy with her union with Zaheer. Moreover, her brother, Luv Sinha, confirmed he didn't attend Sonakshi's wedding as he didn't want to associate with some people.

Now, in an interview with IANS, politician and veteran actor, Shatrughan Sinha opened up about his daughter, Sonakshi Sinha's wedding with Zaheer Iqbal. He revealed that the duo's marriage is not illegal and unconstitutional and they did it with their wishes and their parents' blessings. Adding that if he wouldn't be there for his daughter who else will, Shatrughan said:

"This is a matter of marriage... Secondly, if the kids got married, it is not illegal and unconstitutional. They did it with their own wishes and our blessings. So I appreciate it. Who will stand with my daughter if I don't... My wife Poonam Sinha and I, got together to celebrate her wedding. This is about their happiness."

Shatrughan Sinha says Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are made for each other

The doting father further tagged Sonakshi and Zaheer as made for each other and mentioned that he feels that the duo is very happy together. Elaborating more on it, Shatrughan added that parents will always stand for their children's happiness no matter what and said:

"Parents will always stand for their children's happiness and I feel that our children are happy. I call them made for each other, and we are very happy for them."

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal tied the knot on June 23, 2024, and their union came as a surprise to many people. The duo had an interfaith marriage, but Sonakshi didn't convert her religion to Islam to tie the knot with Zaheer. However, people left no stone unturned to spew hatred on the newly-wedded couple and even tagged their wedding as 'Love Jihad'. While Sonakshi and Zaheer kept mum on the criticism, the actress disabled the comment section of her wedding pictures post.

Zaheer Iqbal revealed Shatrughan's reaction to his marriage proposal for Sonakshi

Earlier, in an interview with the ETimes, Zaheer Iqbal was asked how he had asked for Sonakshi Sinha's hand from her father, Shatrughan Sinha. To this, the actor revealed that Shatrughan is the sweetest person he has met in a long time and admitted to being nervous during the first meeting. However, when they began talking, they became like friends. Zaheer Iqbal further revealed that he went over to Sonakshi's house, and had a one-on-one chat with Shatrughan Sinha. He told the veteran actor that he wanted to ask Sonakshi Sinha to marry him. And the rest is history.
