Sheeba Akashdeep On Sanjay Dutt Asking Her To Be With Pregnant, Maanayata Before Jail, 'I Spent..'

Sanjay Dutt's life has been a roller-coaster ride, and all major controversies related to him used to be splashed on the front pages of newspapers in the '90s. When the actor came under legal trouble for illegal possession of arms during the 1993,  Mumbai blasts case, he was sentenced to 5-years in prison, which was completed in 2016. Amid his prison sentence, the actor came out multiple times on bail. Amid this difficult time, his wife, Maanayata, was pregnant in 2010, but he had to go back to jail. In a new interview, the actor's close friend, Sheeba Akashdeep, revealed how he entrusted her with the responsibility to look after his wife during the crucial time. 

Sheeba Akashdeep recalls how Sanjay Dutt gave her the responsibility to look after Maanayata Dutt 

Sheeba Akashdeep debuted in Hindi films with Yeh Aag Kab Bujhegi where veteran actor, Sunil Dutt introduced her to the method acting technique. She developed a good bond with him and his son, Sanjay Dutt. Recently, the actress sat down for an interview with Pinkvilla and recalled one such anecdote from her friendship with Sanjay Dutt. She mentioned that when the Son of Sardaar actor had to go to jail, he requested her to look after his wife, Maanayata Dutt, who was pregnant with their twins. Recalling the time, she said: 

"When he was going into prison, he called me and said, 'Maanayata is alone, I want you to go and take care of her'."

Sheeba added that she ensured his request was fulfilled as she looked after Maanayata Dutt during those nine months. The actress stated she used to travel daily from home to his residence, where she used to sit down with Maanayata. They used to chat and spend time together to ensure the latter wasn't alone. In Sheeba's words: 

"I used to go every day from my house to sit with her so that I could be with her as she was pregnant and alone. I wanted to be with her till the time he came out. So, I spent that entire nine months with her."

Sanjay Dutt revealed he learnt a lot of new skills in Jail 

Sanjay Dutt has never shied away from talking about his legal case and his time in prison. Previously, when he appeared on a show, Star vs Food Survival, the Vaastav actor mentioned that he spent his time in jail learning new things, including cooking. Recalling how several industry people came to support him, Sanjay said: 

"The first time I went to jail, if you look at the photographs outside Thane jail – Anna, Akshay, Ajay, Shah Rukh- everybody came and wished me well. I had no respite from serving jail time, so why overthink it? I had to decide that yes, I had to go. I have to face it. In six years, I faced, managed, made the most out of it, and learned from it. I used that time to learn cooking, scriptures, and working out. I came out with a better physique."

Sanjay Dutt is the son of Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt. He made his debut in Bollywood with his father's film, Rocky and starred in popular films like Thanedaar, Saajan, Khalnayak, Vaastav: The Reality, Munna Bhai series, PK and more. In his personal life, the actor faced an early battle with drugs and then got embroiled in legal trouble for possessing illegal arms, receiving a prison sentence. He first tied the knot with, Richa Sharma in 1987, and they had a daughter, Trishala Dutt. But Richa passed away in 1996 and he later married model, Rhea Pillai. The couple also parted ways, and Sanjay married Maanayata in 2008. They become parents to twins, a boy named, Shahraan and a girl named, Iqra on 21 October 2010.
