Shefali Jariwala, who rose to superstardom with her song, Kaanta Laga and her bold moves in it. The gorgeousness always wanted to be referred to as the OG 'KaantaLaga', but no one knew that her death would be so near. Shefali passed away in Mumbai on June 27, 2025. She was rushed to the hospital, where the doctors declared her dead.
In the early 2000s, Shefali rose to immense fame due to her remix of 'Kaanta Laga,' and it became a nationwide sensation. In an interview with Rediff, Shefali talked about how the song had transformed her. She stated that she got the opportunity by luck, as the directors, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, saw her outside her college one day. Shefali went on to say that she did the song for 'pocket money' and for fun. However, it changed her as the directors acted as her 'fairy godmothers'. They cast their magic and turned her from an 'ugly duckling' into a beautiful swan. She was quoted as saying:
"What I just did for fun, and a little bit of pocket money, it just completely changed my life. They were like fairy godmothers. They came and waved their magic wand and turned this ugly duckling into this beautiful swan. So yeah, it changed my life completely."
Shefali further revealed that she could never have imagined or dreamed of being in the entertainment industry. She was actually focusing on engineering when she was picked up for Kaanta Laga. No one from Shefali's family ever worked as an actor. While she did complete her education, she didn't consider returning to studies, as the song was a big hit.
Shefali Jariwala's longtime doctor talked about her health condition in an interview with ABP News. The doctor revealed she had no serious medical condition and wasn't on heart-related medication. Not only this, but the doctor also shared that Shefali had been undergoing anti-ageing treatment for the past five to six years.
According to a report by NDTV, the source revealed that the main cause of cardiac arrest could be that Shefali has been regularly consuming anti-ageing medications for the last five to six years. The police sources stated that they have gathered important information based on witness statements and seized evidence. The source said:

"Shefali was regularly consuming anti-ageing medicines for the last seven-eight years. There was a puja at home on June 27, due to which Shefali was fasting. Despite this, she took an injection of anti-ageing medicine in the afternoon of the same day. These medicines were advised to her by a doctor years ago, and since then she has been taking this treatment every month. So far in the police investigation, it has come to light that these medicines could be a major reason for cardiac arrest."
We pray for Shefali's family during these challenging times.
