Shefali Shah is one of the most versatile actresses in the entertainment industry. She made her acting debut in Ram Gopal Varma's film, Rangeela in 1995, and she caught attention with her minor role. She later worked in films such as Mohabbatein, Juice, Someday, Lakshmi, Once Again, Human, Dil Dhadakne Do, Darlings, and many more.
Shefali portrayed the role of a fearless police officer, ‘Vartika Chaturvedi’, in Delhi Crime and has received praise for her performance. Apart from her amazing acting skills, Shefali is known for her bold and unapologetic attitude. She is known for calling a spade a spade and never mincing her words. The actress has faced many struggles in her personal life, but they never dimmed her shine.

From an unstable childhood, being molested in a public place and getting out of an unhappy marriage, Shefali has seen it all. That is why she always emphasises raising sons better to save daughters. Let us read on to know more about the lesser-known life and struggles of Shefali Shah.

In an interview with Mashable India, Shefali Shah recalled her childhood struggles and said she comes from a lower-middle-class family. The actress said she did not have a permanent address and had to move places with her uncle and aunt until her father got a job at the Reserve Bank of India. In the same interaction, Shefali added how she lived in a kholi (a common room in Mumbai’s chawl) with four other people.

Her father would request her uncle to let her and her mom stay with them, while he himself stayed in a garage. Shefali also spoke about her stay in the Fisherman's Colony with her extended family. Speaking about the same, she said:

“Then there was Mahim...the Fisherman Colony there. And at that Fisherman Colony, there was my uncle, my aunt, dad, mom, and me. And it was a kholi, with a kitchen, and the bathroom, which was I think three times or four times this car."
Shefali Shah has often discussed aspects of her life that celebs often refrain from discussing. The actress once talked about being molested in public. In an ANI podcast, Shefali recalled an incident of being touched in the wrong manner in a crowded market. The actress also revealed that she never spoke about it because it was shameful. In the same conversation, Shefali talked about how women start doubting themselves when an incident like molestation happens. Elaborating further, the actress stated that, like any other woman, she had questioned herself whether she had done anything to invite such actions.

Before marrying ace filmmaker Vipul Shah, Shefali was married to actor, Harsh Chhaya in 1997. However, the marriage didn’t last long, and the duo parted ways after their divorce in 2000. Years later, Shefali talked about her split from Harsh and shared the reason behind it. The actress remarked that she gave her everything to that relationship and worked very hard to make it work, but it didn’t, leaving her lonely. In her words:
“I have given a long long chunk of life to that relationship. I worked very hard and I used to believe that marriages are happily ever after until you realise okay that’s a norm, it’s a notion. Not for a second did I think it was because I gave it a lot of time and everything I had in me. And it didn’t work out, it didn’t work out.”

After her divorce from Harsh, Shefali found love in the arms of film producer, Vipul Amrutlal Shah. The couple is blessed with two sons, Maurya and Aryaman. In the initial phase of her marriage to Vipul, Shefali faced se**sm from her in-laws. Talking about the same, the actress mentioned that her in-laws used to question her for working long hours, but would never ask the same of their son.
