It has been 2 years since former Indian cricketer, Shikhar Dhawan has not seen the face of his 11-year-old son, Zoravar. Shikhar can neither talk nor get to know anything about how his beta is doing, as his former wife, Ayesha Mukherjee, blocked him from all social media platforms. They had an ugly divorce battle back in 2023. Shikhar, who has often shared about being spiritually connected to his son, recently shared about the advice he would give to Zoravar after 20 years.
Shikhar has come to terms with the heartwrenching separation from his son, Zoravar. He sat down for a conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia for his podcast and was asked that after 20 years what kind of mentorship he would give to his son. Shikhar emphasised the fact that happiness was of key importance in one's life, and he wanted his son to always be happy wherever he is. Shikhar shared:
"20 saal baad Zoravar hi 31 32 ka hoh jaega. Zoravar ko yahi bolunga ki life mei khush rehna chahiye. Joh bhi kar khush reh. Khush rehne ke joh taur tarike hai woh hai ki apne andar jhako. Kamiyan ko dekho. Kya strength hai aur unko better. Bas yahi kehna hai, khush hi rhena ha."
Shikhar, earlier in an interview with the ANI podcast, had opened up about how he has been navigating the separation from his son. He had shared that it was a difficult journey for him, but he is accepting the fact that he has to live without his son, Zoravar. He did agree of missing his son terribly and to avoid the void, he talks to him spiritually. It was in August 2024 when Shikhar, a left-handed batsman, had retired from both domestic as well as international cricket. However, he does use a lot of affirmations and meditates to feel close to his son. In his words:
"I feel through affirmations that I'm conversing with him every day, hugging him. I put my energy into it spiritually. It is the only way I can bring back my son. My sadness won't help. I manifest."
It was in October 2023 when Delhi's family court granted a divorce to the cricketer and his estranged wife, Ayesha, on the grounds of cruelty. Their divorce took place via mutual consent and the marriage was dead long back as both started living separately since August 8, 2020. The court had shared that the petitioner, Shikhar, had asked for the permanent custody of his minor son as it was morally, psychologically and mentally disastrous for the minor son to be with respondent who consistently acted detrimentally to his welfare right from his birth. A part of the statement read:
"Respondent's/ estranged wife intentional decision to leave this matter uncontested also shows her desire that the court should pass decree of divorce even at the cost of holding her guilty of the matrimonial offence as she knows that no harm could be caused to her even if she is held to have treated the petitioner with cruelty because she has already obtained sufficient favourable orders from the Federal Circuit and Family Court in Australia."
