For the unversed, it was on October 4, 2023, when Shikhar Dhawan was finally granted a divorce from Aesha Mukerji by the Family Court in the Patiala House complex in Delhi. The judge accepted all the allegations made by the cricketer against his ex-wife in his divorce petition. While announcing his decision, judge, Harish Kumar said that the Indian cricketer was subjected to mental agony and cruelty by his ex-wife. The court also mentioned that Aesha forced Shikhar to stay away from their son for years, which caused mental pain to the cricketer. Moreover, the court even allowed Shikhar to meet his son, Zoravar for a certain duration.
For the unversed, Shikhar tied the knot with Aesha in 2012. And the duo welcomed their son, Zoravar in 2014. However, in 2020, Shikhar and Aesha's marriage hit a rough patch, and they filed for a divorce. Soon after that Aesha shifted to Australia and took their son, Zoravar with her, unfortunately, due to this, Shikhar could not meet his baby boy for almost three years. And finally, on June 8, 2023, a Delhi family court ordered Aesha to bring their son to India for a family get-together. The court also stated that a mother alone does not possess all the rights over a child. The court could be quoted as saying:
"The mother alone does not have rights over the child, why then is she opposing the petitioner meeting his own child when he is not a bad father? Blame for polluting the environment within the family has to be shared by both. A dispute arises when one raises concerns, and the other does not appreciate them or pay attention."

Earlier, in an interview with India Today, Shikhar opened up about his failed marriage and admitted that he failed to spot the red flags in his relationship. The cricketer mentioned that if he would ever marry again, he would make a wiser choice because he has learned from his past mistakes. In his words:
"I failed because the final decision is the person's own. I don't point fingers at others. I failed because I was not aware of that field. The things I talk about cricket today, I wouldn't have been aware of the same 20 years back. It comes with experience. Right now my divorce case is going on. Tomorrow, if I want to marry again, I will be much more wiser in that field. I'll know what kind of girl I need; someone whom I can spend my life with."
