Popular cricketer, Shikhar Dhawan's personal life has not been a bed of roses. Finally, he has been granted divorce from his estranged wife, Aesha Mukerji. For the unversed, Shikhar and Aesha tied the knot in 2012 and welcomed a baby boy, Zoravar, in 2014. In addition, Aesha also has two daughters from her first marriage. And it was in 2020 when Shikhar and Aesha's marriage hit rock bottom, and they filed for divorce in September 2021.
Shikhar Dhawan is granted divorce by the Family Court in the Patiala House complex in Delhi. While approving the divorce, the court said that the Indian cricketer was subjected to mental agony and cruelty by his estranged wife, Aesha Mukerji, forcing him to live separately from his only son, Zoravar, for years. This caused mental pain to the cricketer. Judge, Harish Kumar accepted all the allegations made by Shikhar against Aesha in the divorce petition, and on the other hand, the cricketer's estranged wife failed to defend herself.

Amid Aesha and Shikhar's legal proceedings regarding divorce and child custody, she shifted to Australia and took their son, Zoravar with her. Unfortunately, due to this, Shikhar could not meet his baby boy for almost three years, and he was impatient to see him once. Thus, on June 8, 2023, a Delhi family court ordered his estranged wife, Aesha, to bring their son to India for a family get-together. The Delhi family court also mentioned that a mother alone does not possess all the rights over a child. Judge, Harish Kumar stated that a father also has the right to meet his son, especially after such a long gap and deemed the cricketer's desire for his child to meet his grandparents as reasonable.
Earlier, in an interview with India Today, Shikhar Dhawan admitted that he failed to spot the red flags in his relationship. He added that if he would ever tie the knot again, he would make a wiser choice. Shikhar had said.
"I failed because the final decision is the person's own. I don't point fingers at others. I failed because I was not aware of that field. The things I talk about cricket today, I wouldn't have been aware of the same 20 years back. It comes with experience. Right now my divorce case is going on. Tomorrow, if I want to marry again, I will be much more wiser in that field. I'll know what kind of girl I need; someone whom I can spend my life with."
