Veteran cricketer Shikhar Dhawan was married to Ayesha Mukherjee for eight years before they got separated. His son, Zoravar turned 10 on December 26, 2024, and Shikhar took to his social media handle to share an emotional and heartbreaking post for his son. The cricketer has not contacted his son in two years. He poured his heart into a post that spoke about the love and distance between his son.
Shikhar's son, Zoravar resides in Australia with his mom, Ayeshaa Mukherjee. The cricketer shared four pictures which looked from the happy times he had with his son. In the first snap, both of them were seen giving a tight hug to each other on the bed. In the second snap, Shikhar's hand was wrapped around Zorawar's shoulder who looked dapper in a cool haircut. The third snap is goofy, where both of them are smiling to full glory, and in the fourth picture, the dad and son could be making a victory symbol. The Indian cricketer captioned the throwback pictures as:
"No matter the distance, even if we can’t connect as we once did, you will always be in my heart. Wishing you a year filled with madness, love, and happiness, Zora beta!"
One fan of the cricketer wrote, "Shikhar dhawan is the best example of life being unfair. He's surely the best opener in ICC events yet he won't get chance in WC. A funny loving caring person yet his wife left him. Even though after all this pain and suffering he still smiles and never cusses the BCCI or his ex wife. Truly an inspiration for me." Another one sympathised with Shikhar and wrote, "How someone is so cruel man...apne hi bete se dur kaise rakh sakti hai woh." A few of them commented on Shikhar's love as a father and sent him lots of love.
In his post, the veteran Indian cricketer mentioned that it was an emotional Father's Day for him as he had no contact with his son, Zoravar. For the unversed, it was in October 2012 when Dhawan married Ayesha, who already had two daughters from her earlier marriage. On the account of Dhawan being subjected to mental harassment, he was granted divorce by a local court in Delhi from his estranged wife, Ayesha in 2023. Dhawan in his Father's Day post wrote:
"Wishing my dad a very Happy Father’s Day. Thankyou for everything. Also, It’s a emotional Father’s Day for me without hearing from my son, as I have no contact with him so wishing Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers experiencing the same feeling. Sending love and positivity to them."

Shikhar had separated from Ayesha on grounds of mental cruelty. The court had observed that Ayesha had forced Dhawan to be in a long-distance marriage and had kept their son, Zorawar, away from him for years. Shikhar Dhawan had also alleged that Ayesha had compelled him to make her the owner of three properties he had purchased in Australia. He also said that despite getting the visiting rights from the court, he has been blocked on all social media platforms and has not seen his son for the longest time.
