It was in late 2001 when Shoaib got into a relationship with Ayesha. He got a call from a woman named Ayesha, who introduced herself as his fan, and the two started having a telephonic conversation. In a throwback interview with Times News Network, Shoaib Malik himself divulged details about his meeting and scandalous wedding with Ayesha.
Ayesha told Shoaib that she lived in Saudi Arabia and also shared her pictures. As Shoaib kept talking to Ayesha for days, the two had developed feelings for each other and Shoaib had even talked about her to his parents.

Shoaib had never met Ayesha and always expressed his wish to meet her. However, she always said, ‘We will meet at our shaadi.’ When he visited Hyderabad in 2002, the cricketer even tried to meet Ayesha, but she told him that she had to travel to Saudi for urgent work and that her sister, Maha Siddiqui would meet him. After meeting Ayesha’s sister, Maha, Shoaib asked her why Ayesha didn’t want to meet him. To this, Maha stated that Ayesha was not comfortable meeting him because of her sudden weight gain.
Shoaib tried meeting Ayesha multiple times but couldn’t, as she would give some excuses. He even sent his brother-in-law to meet Ayesha to formalise their relationship, but she refused to meet him, citing that she was travelling to the US.
In the throwback interview, Shoaib also talked about having a telephonic nikah without even seeing his bride and being cheated. It was in 2002 when Shoaib received a call from Ayesha stating that she wanted to marry him immediately as the news of their relationship was all over the headlines, and it was difficult for her family to deal with it.
Shoaib, on the other side, revealed that he didn’t want to rush because he was just 20 then and without meeting Ayesha in person, it was impossible for him to think about their nikah. Ayesha kept pressuring him and asked him for a telephonic marriage. Shoaib got his nikahnama and signed the same with the thought that the girl he got married to was the one in the photographs.
It was in 2005, when Shoaib got to know the real identity of Ayesha. Revealing how he had found out that the girl in the pictures and the girl he was talking to were two different people, Shoaib had said:
“Some time in August 2005, when I was in Pakistan, my brother-in-law told me that his nephews, who were in Saudi had a teacher called Maha Siddiqui, who was telling everyone she was the Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik's wife. He showed me a photograph of the teacher and I was shocked to see it was Maha apa.”
Shoaib was shattered to know the real identity of Ayesha as he felt cheated. Shoaib immediately called Ayesha and confronted her and he also threatened her to release the pictures that she mailed him. Pleading to him, Ayesha asked him not to ruin the other girl’s life. Talking about the same, Shoaib stated:
“I called Ayesha immediately and told her I know the truth. I was enraged. I told her I was going to release the photographs she had mailed me. She apologised and told me that the other girl was married and that I would ruin her life if I released those pictures. I thought about it, whosoever photographs these are, probably doesn't even know about all this, and it wouldn't be fair to release those pictures.”
In 2010, Shoaib got married to tennis sensation, Sania and in 2018, the couple embraced parenthood with the arrival of their son, Izhaan Mirza Malik. In 2022, rumours started pouring in that Shoaib and Sania were having problems in their marriage and were heading for divorce. It is reported that Sania had reportedly caught Shoaib cheating on her and decided to part ways with him. However, as per the Pakistani media, it is also reported that the star couple is already divorced. However, none of them reacted to the news.

On January 20, 2024, Shoaib Malik surprised everyone when he posted his wedding pictures with Pakistani actress, Sana Javed. Dressed in their wedding attires, the two posed for the lens and captioned their collaborative post as:
“Alhamdullilah. ‘And We created you in pairs’."
Since Shoaib and Sana posted the pictures from their wedding, an array of reports started making rounds claiming multiple stories about Shoaib and Sania’s divorce. Amid the speculations of their divorce, Sania’s father, Imran Mirza reacted and told PTI that “it was a 'khula'". For the unversed, Khula is a legal term in Islam, in which a wife seeks a divorce from her husband. A woman may seek Khula for various reasons such as incompatibility, cheating, or any other valid reason recognized by Islamic law.
Although Shoaib Malik never addressed his first wedding with Ayesha Siddique, he later revealed that he divorced her legally.
