Shoaib Malik is one of the famous Pakistani cricketers, who never skips a chance to grab the headlines with his skills. Shoaib's personal life grabbed the attention quite often, mainly with his marriages. His alleged first wife was Ayesha Siddiqui. Reportedly, it was in 2001 when Shoaib got a call from a woman named Ayesha, who introduced herself as his fan. Later, the duo reportedly had a telephonic nikah. These details were once shared by Shoaib himself. Well, reports were also rife that Shoaib had to pay a huge amount of alimony to Ayesha after their divorce.
Shoaib Malik once revealed that after his telephone conversation with Ayesha, they became close and formed a strong bond with one another. Shoaib even told about this to his parents. Ayesha said that she was living in Saudi Arabia and even sent a few of her photos to Shoaib. When Shoaib initiated a meet-up, she dodged. Well, she later reportedly pressurised Shoaib to marry her over the phone. After the same, in 2005, Shoaib got to know that the photos he received of Ayesha and the one he was talking to were two different people. Ayesha reportedly confessed the same but asked him not to release the photos of the lady as it would have ruined her life. Well, after that, the ex-couple got divorced.
Reports were rife that Shoaib Malik gave an alimony of Rs. 15 crore to Ayesha Siddiqui. Other sources close to Ayesha Siddiqui's family claimed that she and her family members were given an amount of Rs. 12 crore by the cricketer while Rs 3 crore was given towards sundry ‘costs.’ While this was only a buzz, Shiraj Sareen Khan, who filed suit on behalf of Ayesha, claimed 10 per cent of the said amount should be given to her, if the buzz was true, which left people wondering if Siddiqui actually received that much amount from the Pakistani cricketer for the divorce settlement.
On the other hand, the actual truth is that Ayesha was given Rs. 5K for three months as mehr during the Iddat period as her alimony according to the Shariat law. Abid Rasool Khan, who was the negotiator of the divorce settlement between Ayesha and Shoaib, told NDTV that only 15K was given to Siddiqui, which she even donated. He also slammed all the buzz about Ayesha getting Rs. 15 crore as alimony. He mentioned:
"Shoaib gave Rs 15,000 to Ayesha in keeping with stipulations of Islamic law. She donated this money. I don't know where all this talk of Rs 15 crore is coming from. I am among the negotiators who are upset with the Mirzas and Siddiquis for being given the cold shoulder once the negotiations ended. However, I am against people trying to extort money."
Talking to Mumbai Mirror, a close source revealed that first, Shoaib was reluctant to sign the papers of divorce, but they had to make him understand that he married Ayesha as per the nikaahnama, thus, divorce should be done. The source shared:
