Shobana Recalls Amitabh Bachchan Defended Her When She Was Asked To Change Clothes Behind A Tree

Amitabh Bachchan is a well-known actor who has worked in over 200 films. Hailed as the 'Shahenshah of Bollywood', the actor has built a massive fanbase for himself. However, he is not just the biggest star of Bollywood but also equally humble and supportive of his peers. Something similar happened when the actor worked with Shobana in Kalki 2898 AD. 

Shobana recalled how Amitabh Bachchan reacted when she was asked to change her clothes behind a tree

Shobana recently delighted her fans with a live session on her Instagram handle. During the interaction, the actress shared insights about her experience working with the Bollywood superstar, Amitabh Bachchan. Shobana, who shared the screen space with Amitabh during the shoot of a song, praised his humility and professionalism.

During the live session, Shobana also recalled a memorable incident from a song they shot in Ahmedabad that left a lasting impression of Amitabh on her. Shobana recalled how Amitabh Bachchan reacted when she was asked to change her clothes behind a tree. She revealed that Big B is the most humble artist she has worked with and reflected on the song they shot in Ahmedabad. She stated:

"Bachchan sir, from then to now, is the same — the most humble artiste I’ve worked with. Actually, some of the greatest artists share one trait: humility. I’ll tell you an anecdote about Bachchan sir. I shot a small portion of a song with him many years ago in Ahmedabad, where I had loads of fabric wrapped around me. Bachchan sir had a caravan, and the entire city had come to a standstill because everyone came to see the shoot."

Shobana revealed that while Amitabh Bachchan had a caravan, when she asked about hers, someone remarked that she would be adjusting as she was from the Malayalam film industry and asked her to change behind a tree. However, Amitabh Bachchan heard this and invited her to use his caravan instead. She was quoted as saying:

"So I asked where my caravan was, as I had many costume changes. Someone remarked, 'Ah, she's from Malayalam cinema; they're all very adjustable, and she can change behind a tree.' Bachchan sir heard this on the walkie-talkie, immediately came out, and asked, 'Who said that?' He then invited me to his caravan and stepped out to let me use it."

Shobana recalled her experience working with Amitabh Bachchan in Kalki 2898 AD

In the same Instagram live session, Shobana recalled when she got to work with Amitabh Bachchan again in Kalki 2898 AD. She revealed that he showed such grace and culture whenever someone came to see him. She added that despite being such a big star, he would stand up to greet them, despite the heavy prosthetic makeup's weight on him. 

About Kalki 2898 AD

The mythological science-fiction film, Kalki 2898 AD, was directed by Nag Ashwin and features Amitabh Bachchan as 'Ashwatthama', Shobana as 'Mariam', the leaders of 'Shambhala'. Other than that, the film also featured Deepika Padukone, Prabhas and Kamal Haasan, among others. The film proved to be a major box office success, collecting Rs. 1042.25 crore worldwide. The second part is set to go on floors in December 2025.
