Shobhaa De Reveals The One-Night Earnings Of Shilpa Shetty's Restaurant, Bastian, 'Rs. 2-3 Crore...'

Bollywood actress and entrepreneur, Shilpa Shetty turned into the hospitality business with her restaurant, Bastian in 2019. Over the years, Shilpa's restaurant has become one of the most popular spots. A few weeks ago, several fans were left disappointed when rumours started to surface around shutting down Bastian, but the Baazigar actress had refused it. Recently, the author and socialite, Shobhaa De revealed the earnings of the restaurant in a single night.

Recently, author and socialite, Shobhaa De sat down for a candid conversation in the podcast, Inside Out with Barkha Dutt, during which she revealed the amount that restaurants own in Mumbai. She mentioned that one single restaurant in Mumbai earns more than Rs. 2-3 crore. She was quoted as saying:

"The kind of money in Mumbai is astonishing. One single restaurant in Mumbai has a turnover of Rs. 2-3 crore a night. On a slow night, the turnover is Rs. 2 crore and on weekends it is Rs. 3 crore. I walked into that restaurant to see it myself because when I heard these numbers… I said this can’t be true."

After this revelation, the host of the podcast asked Shobhaa De as to which restaurant she was referring to, then she mentioned that it is Shilpa Shetty’s restaurant, Bastian. Shobaa explained that Bastian is on the top as it gives a completely unreal feel. She also stated that the restaurant often has a long waiting line of customers who arrive in Lamborghini and Aston Martin. In her words:

"It’s Bastian. It’s the new Bastian. It’s on the top. It is 21,000 ft square feet, it’s not even reality. You walk in there and you feel ‘where am I?’ You have a 360° view of the city. Each table was spending in lakhs."

Bastian’s new outlet in Goa

On October 17, 2025, Shilpa Shetty took to her Instagram stories to share photos from the inauguration pooja of Bastian in Goa. Days ago, Shilpa had shut down the Mumbai outlet, only to announce that there will be more outlets of this seafood restaurant. In the inauguration pooja, the actress was dressed up in a white-hued kurta with mustard-hued flowers and a matching mustard-toned dupatta.

She is well-known for talking on issues like urban life, celebrity culture, marriage, sexuality and more. She started her career in journalism during the 1970s, with magazines such as Stardust, Society and Celebrity. In 1992, she was described as 'India's hottest-selling English-language novelist' by the Los Angeles Times.
