Shreyas Iyer, India's ODI vice captain, is on the road to recovery after he suffered a spleen injury when he was in the third and final ODI leg against Australia, which was held in Sydney. The 30-year-old cricketer was admitted to a hospital in Sydney and is now out of danger. Shreyas has been making a lot of progress and reportedly is also cracking jokes with the nurses of the hospital.
According to a report by Zee News India, Shreyas has been on an amazing road to recovery after he suffered a spleen injury. Now, the report also mentioned that Shreyas had been joking with the hospital staff, including nurses. Well, what had started off as a fielding thing had then turned into like a health scare. The situation had become tense during the Sydney ODI when Shreyas suffered an injury on the left side of his rib cage. He was trying to do a full stretch catch to kind of dismiss Alex Carey.

The BCCI board also confirmed that Shreyas was shifted out of the ICU and then reportedly was taken to a hospital room. BCCI's secretary, Devajit Saikia, also shared that the doctors at the hospital in Sydney have been happy with the way Shreyas has been progressing, and he has been doing routine chores and is totally out of danger. Well, Shreyas' journey to recovery is all things inspiring. The report also stated that the Mumbai batter has been talking, smiling, and joking with nurses, which surely justifies that Shreyas is a born fighter.

The impact of Shreyas' injury was such that he became uncomfortable and also required like on-ground medical support. He was taken to a hospital nearby for immediate evacuation. Well, when the immediate scans were done on Shreyas, they showed internal bleeding that took place near the spleen area. As a result, the BCCI team transferred Shreyas to the Intensive Care Unit, where the cricketer was monitored closely.

Shreyas received medical attention immediately; there was no surgery that the cricketer required. Now, there were a lot of speculations related to the health of Shreyas, and then BCCI's secretary Devajit Saikia shared that Shreyas was treated via a non-invasive medical procedure and his internal bleeding was managed. The decision taken was crucial which helped Shreyas in his recovery time as Devajit shared:

“Shreyas didn’t have surgery but went through a different procedure, which is why he recovered so quickly. Shreyas is much, much, much better. His recovery has been much faster than what the doctor expected. Normally, it should take six to eight weeks to recover completely, but you can expect a surprise from him because he may recover much earlier.”
Shreyas, despite battling a spleen injury, has been in touch with India’s T20I skipper, Suryakumar Yadav, who gave a heartfelt update about his team member that boosted the morale of his sea of fans. Suryakumar shared that Shreyas has been recovering faster than the time taken for the recovery and shared:
"He’s recovering well, replying to us on the phone — that means he’s doing absolutely fine. The doctors are taking good care of him, and there’s nothing to be worried about."
