Shruti Haasan reveals she lived an uncomfortable life after her parents' divorce

Shruti Haasan recently sat down for an interview with Filmfare and discussed some lesser-known aspects of her life, including her parents' divorce. For those unaware, Kamal Haasan and Sarika tied the knot in 1988 but legally parted ways in 2004, when Shruti was growing up. She shared that during that phase, her life changed from big mansions and luxury cars to local trains in Mumbai. Unlike people's perception, she did live an uncomfortable life. In her words:

"No, because a lot of people don't know what happened to me prior to me joining the film industry. I was humbled by life with my parents' separation. We were not living in the big mansion, and when my mom decided to leave, we moved from Chennai to Mumbai. It wasn't comfortable."

Shruti Haasan admits that her insecurities made her develop an attitude in her initial days

In the same conversation, Shruti Haasan shared that when she decided to enter the entertainment industry, she had already mended her bond with her father, Kamal Haasan, after staying away from him for some time. At the same time, she pursued higher studies in music abroad. But despite everything, she felt that she wanted freedom and financial independence in her life. Consequently, she had a bit of a wrong attitude, which stemmed from her insecurities. Recalling the time, the actress said:

"When I joined the movies, by then I had reconnected with Appa, and I went to study music abroad. But I always had this sense of I want my own space, and I want to earn my own money and I want my own independence. I was a bit attitude-y, but when I look back, I see that it was not from a place of thinking that I was better. It was completely from a place of fear, thinking I am lesser, and projecting confidence."
