Shubhangi Atre REACTS To Shilpa Shinde's Blame Of Copying Her In 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain', 'I Did..'

Shubhangi Atre, who is a popular actress on Indian Television, made headlines when she replaced Shilpa Shinde to play the role of 'Angoori Bhabhi' in the sitcom, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain. After initial doubts, she began to smoothly play the role and continues to do so after nearly 9 years of her replacement. However, everyone still remembers the stern accusation made by Shilpa Shinde, where she alleged that Shubhangi was copying her style to portray the character. Recently, after years, Shubhangi Atre once again opened up about the accusations. 

Shubhangi Atre clarifies that she isn't copying Shilpa Shinde's style in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain 

Shubhangi Atre recently sat down for a conversation with Siddharth Kannan and opened up about the comments made by Shilpa Shinde. She clarified that she has never tried to imitate anyone and has always portrayed 'Angoori Bhhahi' with her individuality. The actress emphasised that stepping into play an already famous character wasn't easy, but she made sure to respect the original while adding her personal touch to it. Sharing her thoughts on the role, Shilpa said:

"The truth is, I am not copying her at all. Look, I completely understand. It's a great show, and Angoori Bhabhi is such a sweet character. It's a very interesting role, and such characters are rarely written for television these days."

Without directly naming Shilpa Shinde repeatedly, Shubhangi mentioned that she was well aware of the comments made against her performance. She explained that her role of 'Angoori Bhabhi' itself comes with certain traits like speaking Bhojpuri and sticking to the script doesn't mean she was copying the previous actor. At the same time, the actress mentioned that if anyone saw the audience reviews or read the comments, they would notice a clear difference between Shilpa's episodes and hers. In her words:

"If anyone plays it with sincerity, it's bound to succeed. When Shilpa made that comment, I did respond and made it clear that I'm not copying her in any way, especially not in my personal life. I'm simply doing what's required within the frame of Angoori Bhabhi. If the character speaks in Bhojpuri, then I have to speak in Bhojpuri. I can't change her language."

Shilpa Shinde called Shubhangi Atre a 'good copycat'

After Shubhangi Atre had started playing the role of 'Angoori Bhabhi' in 2016, Shilpa Shide, in an interview with a leading entertainment portal, mentioned that she had seen Shubhangi's acting and she was a 'good copy cat'. She added that the makers could dress someone in 'Angoori's look, but it's not easy to act the part. Shilpa shared that Shubhangi was a good actress and could do better if she would stop imitating others and play an original character. For those unaware, Shubhangi had also replaced Shilpa Shinde as 'Koel' in Chidiya Ghar.

Why did Shilpa Shinde leave Bhabhi Ghar Par Hain?

Shilpa Shinde used to play the character of 'Angoori Bhabhi 'since the show's beginning in 2015. She left the show after disagreements with the show's producers. The actress cited reasons like mental torture, issues with work conditions, pay, and harassment by producer, Sanjay Kohli as reasons for her exit. Shilpa accused co-producer, Vikas Gupta of ruining her career. Later, producer, Benaifer Kohli revealed that they chose Shubhangi Atre to play the role as she had an inherent beauty and innocence to play the role.
