Famous television actress, Shubhangi Atre rose to immense fame for her portrayal of the role of 'Angoori Bhabhi' in the show Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai. Currently, Shubhangi is in deep grief as the news of her ex-husband, Piyush Poorey's death reached her via press. It is worth mentioning that Shubhangi and Piyush were granted divorce just two months before his untimely demise.
Shubhangi and Piyush were married for 22 years before they decided to part ways, as they had developed irreconcilable differences. In 2022, they parted ways and were granted divorce in 2025. According to reports they were not on talking terms. Talking about Piyush demise, he passed away on April 19, 2025. According to a report by Money Control, Piyush was battling liver cirrhosis.
Shubhangi and Piyush tied the knot in 2003, and within a few years they welcomed their daughter, Ashi. However, her ex-husband, Piyush challenged the societal notion by giving up on his job for the dream of turning his wife, Shubhangi a famous celebrity. He had given up on his high-paying job to be a stay-at-home father. In an interview with The Times Of India, Shubhangi said:
"I was in Pune and my husband was working in an advertisement agency. Till our baby grew a year old, I was taking care of her completely but after that, I started giving auditions. When I got shows like Kasautii Zindagii Kay and Kasturi, Piyush left his job so that I could pursue acting. Later when I settled down a bit and we figured out our schedules, he resumed work."
According to a report by The Times Of India, a source revealed that Shubhangi was not on talking terms with her ex-husband, Piyush Poorey. The source further shared that Shubhangi had resumed shooting for her show, Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai on April 20, 2025. When the publication contacted Shubhangi, she shared:
"Your thoughtfulness during this time means a great deal to me. I request you to give me some time to talk about this."
After her divorce with Piyush, Shubhangi in an interview with Bombay Times, called it a painful. She stated that she was fully invested in the relationship. But with time they developed irreconcilable differences. Shubhangi further mentioned that the end of their marraige felt like a burden was lifted off her chest. She was quoted as saying:

"It was painful. I was fully invested in the relationship. Over time, Piyush and I developed irreconcilable differences. However, now, I'm out of that marriage, and I feel a sense of peace as if a heavy burden has been lifted. Now, I want to focus on my daughter and provide her with a happy and secure environment."
