O Paapad Waale Panga Na Le, Thappad Bajega, Panga Na Le, Ungli Daba Ke Angootha Bana Doongi, Taaun Taaun… No matter how old we grow, we would always remember the step that Chunni did in the film, Makdee and the innocence with which she had made her way into our hearts. Known for her performances as a child artist in Makdee and Iqbal, Shweta Basu Prasad had won a National Award at the tender age of twelve. However, Shweta had virtually fallen off the grid after being entangled in a prostitution racket controversy in 2014. Eventually, the dark clouds had drifted away and the ray of sunshine had come into her life as she married filmmaker, Rohit Mittal. But Shweta Basu Prasad and Rohit Mittal’s married life didn’t last long as just before their first anniversary, she had announced their separation. Shweta and Rohit had tied the knot as per Bengali customs on December 13, 2018, and a year later, had announced that they have mutually decided to end their marriage. In an interview with SpotboyE, Shweta had revealed that though they had filed for a legal separation, they share a cordial and friendly relationship. Shweta and Rohit had five years of healthy, loving and loyal relationship, and it’s just they had decided to end their marriage and remain friends.
In an interview with ETimes, Shweta Basu Prasad recalled the upheaval in her personal life when she parted ways with Rohit Mittal in 2019, just eight months after tying the knot. Revealing that it feels like a breakup and divorce sounds like a big word to her, Shweta said, "It happened, but then I see couples who have been together for 10 years or more going separate ways. The fact that Rohit and I separated after only 6-8 months made it feel simply like a breakup. Divorce may sound like a big word, but in my case I can vouch it was definitely not nasty. Of course, I was sad; nobody parties when you split up with anybody, but I have an amazing family around me. Besides, I think one is his own friend or enemy in such situations; I went on to become my own friend and I am fine now." After months of contemplation, we arrived at this decision a few months ago in each other's best interest, as individuals. Not every book is supposed to be read cover to cover, that doesn't mean the book is bad, or one can't read, some things are best left unfinished. Thank you Rohit for the irreplaceable memories and always inspiring me. Have a great life ahead, forever your cheerleader."

Shweta also has films, Jamun and India Lockdown in her kitty, expected to be released in 2021. While her professional life reaching new heights with every performance, her personal life too, manages to grab the headlines.
