'Sikandar' Collection And Review: Salman Khan Starrer Fails To Beat 'Chhaava', Opens At Rs. 26 Crore

Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandana starrer Sikandar is an action thriller directed by A.R. Murugadoss. The film released on March 30, 2025, and fans have been over the moon about it. With Sajid Nadiadwala as the producer of the film, it marks the reunion between the producer and Salman after their 2014 hit film, Kick. However, while that was a money maker, let's find out how Salman's latest release performed on its first day.

Salman Khan's Sikandar fails to break Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava's opening record

Salman Khan's Sikandar was released on Eid after a two-year gap from his last film. Rashmika Mandana was seen opposite Salman in a key role, and the film was highly anticipated. However, its pre-release buzz failed to match the noise made by Salman's previous hit, Tiger 3. Salman, who is known for delivering Eid blockbusters for his fans, only managed to open at Rs. 26 crore on its first day in theatres.

According to a report by Sacnilk.com, Sikandar has collected Rs. 26 crores on its first day. While the film crossed Malalyalam's biggest opener, Mohanlal starrer L2: Empuraan , it failed to break any box-office records. The film fell far behind Vicky Kaushal starrer, Chhaava, which collected Rs. 31 crore on its opening. Salman is known to give housefuls. However, this time, his film only had 20.95 per cent Hindi occupancy at its opening.

It will be interesting to see how the film Sikandar performs in the upcoming days and whether it's able to turn the winds and capture sufficient growth. Salman Khan's previous releases have set the bar quite high for his opening-day collection. While Salman's 2016 release, Sultan collected Rs. 36.54 crore, Tiger 3 collected a massive Rs. 53.3 crore on its first day back in 2023.

Salman Khan has been one of the most loved actors in Bollywood, and his fans never back away from showing his love for the actor. However, that doesn't seem to be a trend this time. So, let's take a look at what the audience has to say about Bhaijaan's Sikandar. A user on X wrote, "Sikandar is torture; it's a huge disappointment! Weak storyline, lazy execution, and lacklustre performances. Salman Khan looks uninterested, and the film fails to engage. Definitely not worth the hype!"

Komal Nahta also shared his views of the film and penned, "Overall, #Sikandar is a very weak film with a bad script and a bad screenplay. This movie will not be liked by the public at all. The movie will run for only 2 days because of Eid festivities." Another user in a long note wrote:

 "Watched #Sikandar. My expectations weren't huge from this one considering recent works of ARM but even with low expectations, this film has managed to disappoint me. Barring the first 30 minutes, the screenplay is just flat. The first half is decent, as it felt neither exciting nor boring. But the 2nd half is completely exhausting. I expected generic writing, but filmmaking is generic as well. Antagonists are just there for the sake of it and add nothing of value to the film. The emotional core of the film becomes too melodramatic at times. Music and score don't do justice to either action or emotions. One positive takeaway, however, is that Salman Khan finally gets some solid mass moments after a long time. While those fanservice scenes do deliver, they're not enough to elevate the film to even a casual watch!"
