Sky Force is on the verge of becoming the first big hit of the year 2025. From critics to audiences, everyone is falling in love with the film. The action-drama movie didn't make a lot of buzz before its release during the promotions like other big-budget films. However, once again, it has been proven that if the director has worked on the film's script, nothing can stop it from making big numbers at the box office. Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani directed Sky Force.
Sky Force features a series of stars playing iconic Indian war heroes. From Akshay Kumar playing Wing Commander Kumar Om Ahuja (fictionalisation of O. P. Taneja), Veer Pahariya as Squadron Leader T. Krishna "Tabby" Vijaya (fictionalisation of Ajjamada B. Devayya) to Mohit Chauhan as Air Chief Marshal Arjun Sinha (fictionalisation of ACM Arjun Singh), and Varun Badola as Air Vice-Marshal Amit Narang (fictionalisation of AVM Ramaswamy Rajaram), the film has an impressive star cast.
Amidst all the buzz around Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani's Sky Force, a statement from Fighter's director, Siddharth Anand, has taken the internet by storm. The filmmaker penned a cryptic post on X, and it has started a fan war between people who liked Fighter and netizens who think Sky Force is way better than that. While some netizens slammed Fighter for its bold scenes, most people lauded Sky Force as the perfect patriotic film. The debate is wide open, but one thing where everyone agrees is that Veer Pahariya has overshadowed Akshay Kumar in Sky Force.
The 30-year-old actor, Veer Pahariya, stunned everyone with his acting skills in Sky Force, which is his debut Bollywood film. From his dashing looks to how he pulled off the emotional scenes and showcased valour throughout the film, Veer is simply outstanding in Sky Force. For the uninitiated, Veer Pahariya portrayed the character of Squadron Leader Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya, who was awarded Maha Vir Chakra posthumously after a wait of 23 years. For the uninitiated, Ajjamada Devayya is often regarded as the hero of the 1965 India-Pakistan War.
Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya was born on December 24, 1932, in Karnataka's Coorg, and he was the son of a doctor named Dr. Bopayya. It was in the year 1954 that Ajjamada Devayya was commissioned into the Indian Air Force (IAF) as a pilot. When the outbreak of the 1965 war happened, Ajjamada was working as an instructor at the Air Force Flying College. When things started getting serious and became a war-like situation, Ajjamada was chosen as a part of a team assigned to the aircraft strike mission. The aircraft strike mission went to Sargodha Airfield in Pakistan.

At the beginning of the mission, Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya was chosen as a backup in case the first 12 aircraft dropped during the mission. However, he joined the battle when things got out of control. Ajjamada Devayya was intercepted by Pakistani pilot Flt. Lt. Amjad Hussain, the squadron leader, successfully evaded the lethal attacks from the enemy. Due to Amjad Hussain's PAF F-104 Starfighter's high speed, he managed to damage Ajjamada's plane.
However, to everyone's surprise, despite his plane being damaged, Ajjamada Devayya still managed to bring down Pakistan's Starfighter. While Amjad ejected from the plane and parachuted, Ajjamada reportedly lost communication with the Indian Air Force, and no one was aware of his location. However, so many years after the war, Pakistan reportedly shared that Ajjamada Devayya's body was found near Sargodha, and the nearby villagers buried him.
Ajjamada Devayya is the only officer in the history of the Indian Air Force who has received the prestigious Maha Vir Chakra posthumously. In 2009, Kodagu's Madikeri bus stand circle was named after him. Not only this, Codava Makkada Koota, a renowned organisation, installed a statue of Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya in Madikeri for everything he has done for the country. Talking about his personal life, Ajjamada Devayya is survived by his wife, Sundari Devayya and their two daughters, Smitha and Preetha Devayya.
What are your thoughts on Squadron Leader Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya's story and how Veer Pahariya portrayed it in Sky Force? Let us know.
