Actor-turned-politician; Smriti Irani has been an inspiration for millions. She made her acting debut with the TV series, Aatish and Hum Hain Kal Aaj Aur Kal. However, it was her character, 'Tulsi Irani', in the popular show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which made her an overnight star.
In a world where talking about periods was taboo, Smriti dared to break the stereotype by doing an advertisement on menstrual hygiene 25 years back. The MP took to her social media handles and posted the video of her first ad, where she talked about menstrual hygiene and broke the taboo around it. In the throwback video, she can be heard saying:
“Those 5 days. Like what? Periods are god's way of telling us that you are older and wiser.”

Along with the video, Smriti penned a long note and revealed how many people were averse to the assignment as a sanitary pad’s advertisement meant the death of a glamour-based career. However, Smriti was eager to face the camera and said yes to it. Her note can be read as:
“When your past ‘whispers’ ….25 years ago, my first ad ever for a big company. However, the subject was not a fancy one. Infact such was the product that many were averse to the assignment since a sanitary pad advertisement ensured the death of a glamour based career for the model involved. Eager to start my stint in front of the camera I said yes! After all why should a conversation re menstrual hygiene be taboo. Since then there has been ‘no looking back‘ #throwbackthursday p.s— yes I was thin ..ye yaad dilaane ki zaroorat nahi.”

Smriti Irani is a mother of two adorable kids, Zohr Irani and Zoish Irani. Smriti is also a stepmother of Shanelle, her husband, Zubin’s daughter from his previous marriage. Smriti, who is known as one of the coolest ministers, is also one of the most proactive mothers, who has aced the relationship of a mother with her children. Smriti always wanted to achieve big in her life. She didn't stop her goals after becoming an acclaimed actress. She joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2003 and became the vice president of the Maharashtra Youth Wing in 2004. Smriti is an MP from the Amethi constituency. She won the Lok Sabha elections in 2019. Smriti is currently the youngest minister in the cabinet of Narendra Modi.
