One was her stellar performance as 'Tulsi' in the popular Hindi TV serial, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and another is her role as a prominent politician. However, after many years, Smriti reportedly made a grand comeback to TV screens in 2025 with the second season of her popular daily soap opera, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. In a recent conversation, the actress shared a hidden fact related to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi Season 2.

Smriti Irani shares a secret attached to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Season 2

In a recent conversation with Karan Johar on the show, We The Women of Mojo Story, Smriti Irani unveils a deep secret attached to the popular daily soap opera, Season 2 of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Smriti revealed that season 2 was scheduled to happen back in 2014. For the uninitiated, in 2014, Smriti was appointed Minister of Human Resource Development by India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Smriti shared that when the makers planned to develop Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Season 2, they approached her. However, as she had to serve in the Indian parliament as a cabinet minister, she had to step down from the project. In her words:

"If you look at the Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi journey in totality, the most well-kept secret about it was I had a contract to do it again in 2014, and I walked away from it because I had to serve in the Indian Parliament as a cabinet minister. The set was ready, but there was a phone call from the Prime Minister's office that you have to take an oath."

Smriti Irani has reportedly started shooting with Z+ security

According to a report by India Forums, Smriti, who is returning to TV screens after almost 17 years, has been provided Z+ security on the shooting floors. Although, Smriti is making her comeback on TV screens, she still holds a dignified position in India’s ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). So, the makers are in no mood to compromise anything related to Smriti’s safety and security. For the unversed, Z+ security is the highest level of security provided in India by CRPF commandos or other Central Armed Police Forces, such as the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) or the respective State Police. A source close to India Forums said:

"The mobile phones of everyone on the sets excluding Amar sir, Smriti Mam and Ektaa mam will be taped. Everyone will be barred from using their mobile phones. Smriti is also shooting with Z plus security and everyone on sets will have to adhere to the strict security protocols laid."

According to a report by Pinkvilla, the second season of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi's shooting has commenced, featuring Smriti Irani, Amar Upadhyay, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, and more. According to multiple reports, Ekta Kapoor, the producer of the show, has confirmed the show’s return and revealed that the new season will have only 150 episodes, as the previous season concluded before reaching the 2000-episode milestone. As per recent reports, the show was scheduled to premiere on July 3, 2025, but has now faced a delay due to rework on the set. In her words:

"The love we have for this program brought everyone related to it back together to complete just those 150 episodes to reach that 2000 episode. This show deserves that."
