Smriti Irani rose to fame with her stint in the superhit show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahut Thi, which is all set to return to television screens. Smriti's role as 'Tulsi' was the highlight of the early 2000s, and people would religiously follow her life shown in the half-hour episode. However, not many know that she had worked extremely hard, even through her miscarriage.
Recently, Smriti Irani discussed her busy shooting schedules in the 2000s. She shared that she returned to work after three days of her son's birth. The reason was simple that she was part of a daily soap, and everyone wanted to watch a new episode daily at 10:30 p.m. Not only this, Smriti revealed that she had even shot for the show while she was dealing with a personal loss. She had a miscarriage and was juggling with motherhood and the job of being an actress. Talking about it Smriti said:
"I continued to work on the show even post a miscarriage."
It is worth mentioning that the late producer, Ravi Chopra, gave Smriti a week off, but the show's daily airing gave Smriti no time to get through the hard time. She revealed that someone in the production team told Ekta Kapoor that they were ready to shoot but Smriti isn't available and she has been lying about her miscarraige. So, she had to go back to her hospital and fetch the reports, proving she actually had a miscarraige. Smriti said:
"Somebody in the production went and told Ekta, ‘We’re ready to shoot. But Smriti Irani isn’t available. She is lying. Nothing has actually happened to her.’ So I had to go back with my hospital reports to prove it actually happened."
Earlier, in an interview with the Hindustan Times, Apara Mehta, who played Smriti Irani's mother-in-law, shared the details about her co-star, who was called on the sets hours after her miscarriage. She revealed that Smriti was shooting at the time of the birth of both her children, Zohr Irani and Zoish Irani. Mehta further added:
“Whenever any of us fell sick or anything, they came to our places, put on a little bit of makeup, put a wall at the back, and we have shot. I know Smriti spoke about the miscarriage. By the time this happened, my character was already dead on the show, but I know it for a fact ki use aana bhi pada hoga and karna bhi pada hoga."
Smriti always wanted to achieve big in her life. She didn't stop her goals after becoming an acclaimed actress. She joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2003 and became the vice president of the Maharashtra Youth Wing in 2004. Smriti is an MP from the Amethi constituency. She won the Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
