Ektaa Kapoor’s cult television show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, is back, and so is the queen of television, Smriti Irani. Ever since the confirmation of a fresh new sequel to the iconic serial was made, OG fans could not keep calm, and now, Smriti Irani’s first look as ‘Tulsi Virani’ from the reboot’s first promo has taken social media by storm. In a post shared by the show’s makers, the actress-politician was seen dressed in a classic maroon saree, red bindi, and traditional jewellery. The timeless ‘bahu’ is ready to return to the small screen, and the internet is feeling all kinds of nostalgic.

Smriti Irani’s Return as ‘Tulsi Virani’ sparks frenzy on the internet

The first look of Smriti Irani’s ‘Tulsi’ avatar went viral in no time, and fans can’t keep calm about it. This marks the actress’s dramatic comeback to the character that made her a household name in the early 2000s. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), fans are pouring in their excitement to see the iconic ‘Tulsi’ in action again. One user wrote:

“Pure Childhood Nostalgia hitting hard after watching ksbkbt2 1st promo, ahhh feels like old golden itv era is finally coming back with the same old grace & charm…”

Fans of the show are excited to find the old charm from the serial back, and the first promo proves just that. One X user thanked the makers for reviving the show and wrote, “Thank you, dearie, for bringing this again on TL. These r our childhood nostalgia shows, and now KSBKBT2 gonna serve already the vibes are so on point.” One fan wrote, “Tulsi is back,” while another declared, “Childhood is officially returning.”

According to reports, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 will reunite much of its iconic original cast, promising peak nostalgia. Smriti Irani, the heart of the series, returns as ‘Tulsi’ after 25 years, along with her beloved on-screen husband Amar Upadhyay, who reprises his role as ‘Mihir Virani’.

Fans can also look forward to the return of Hiten Tejwani as ‘Karan’, the headstrong son of the Virani family, and Gauri Pradhan as ‘Nandini’, his on-screen wife. Shakti Anand will reprise his role as Tulsi’s brother-in-law, while Kamalika Guha Thakurta is set to return as the family matriarch, ‘Gayatri Virani’. Apara Mehta, who played ‘Savita’, Mihir’s mother, is confirmed to return in the sequel. 

Regarding the new faces, new actors such as Aman Gandhi, Rohit Suchanti, Shagun Sharma, and Ankit Bhatia will join the cast to play Tulsi and Mihir’s grown-up children, representing the next generation of the Virani family.

When and where to watch the KSBKBT reboot

According to official reports, the reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is set to premiere on July 29, 2025, at 10:30 p.m. on Star Plus and will also be available for streaming on JioHotstar. The fresh new season will, however, run as a limited series, with only around 150 episodes. While details of the plot are under wraps, producers have confirmed that the show will have a fresh storyline but with the same emotional core. 

With Smriti Irani’s first look already gaining momentum, it’s clear that the return of ‘Tulsi’ is not just a TV comeback, but a cultural moment!
