Television actress turned politician, Smriti Irani often makes it to the headlines for her on-point remarks and her seedhi baat. However, her journey has been a remarkable one. She was one of the famous faces of television in the early 2000s, courtesy of her show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. But not many know that television's favourite bahu had started her journey as a model. In fact, she has also participated in the Miss India contest.
Recently, Smriti Irani's video from the Miss India contest left the internet berserk. Yes, Smriti participated in the Miss India beauty pageant in 1998. In a clip that's making rounds on social media, Smriti can be seen donning a tangerine halter neck top with a mini skirt. Her look was rounded off with a huge straw hat. For a second, Smriti looked unrecognisable as she walked on the ramp with poise.
For those who don't know, Smriti was one of the participants who couldn't reach the top 9 contestants in the Miss India beauty contest. After her Miss India stint, SMriti was featured in the song, Boliyan.
Smriti always wanted to achieve big in her life. She didn't stop her goals after becoming an acclaimed actress. She joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2003 and became the vice president of the Maharashtra Youth Wing in 2004. Smriti is an MP from the Amethi constituency. She won the Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
Not many know that Smriti made her television debut with the serial, Aatish. She also worked in the serial, Kavita, which aired on DD metro. However, it was Ekta Kapoor's serial, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi that gave her name and fame.
