Inaaya’s nursery also has a deep green checkered lounge chair and dark wooden flooring, contrasting to the pastel elements of her room. The hallway in Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Kemmu’s residence is covered with a plethora of frames, some family portraits and some artworks collected by the couple. You’ll also notice they have a great collection of tasteful lounge chairs. On July 17, 2020, Soha and Kunal had narrated their home story and revealed what makes their house, home. In the video, Kunal had begun by saying, “So, I was about six when my family moved to Mumbai and I practically grew up in here so I’m kinda Mumbai boy. I lived with my family for a long time then I moved out on my own. I was very sure when I get my own place, I wanted to have certain things that I missed in the house that I lived in, that had to be to my liking. Such as, I wanted a house so that I can have a room where I can watch movies on full volume with surround system.” (Also Read: Amitabh Bachchan And Jaya Bachchan's 100 Crore Worth Home, Jalsa Exudes Royalty, Take An Inside Tour)
Soha Ali Khan had recalled her childhood days in the Pataudi palace and how it was a major shift for her when she moved to Mumbai from Delhi, “I, of course, grew up in Delhi. It was a large house with lots of gardens with jamun trees and mango trees. So, when I moved to a crowded city like Mumbai and started to live in a flat, I wanted to create a sense of space. And also have a bit of a view, if that was possible.” Kunal had continued, “I was always sure that I wanted a house that has a lot of light for most time of the day because I wanted a good vibe.” Soha had added, “Of course, Kunal wanted his home theatre surround system room, and I like to read, so that same room I wanted to create a library atmosphere with all my books up displayed like a sort of bookcase. Also, I wanted a room that was digital free. And, one room where you can entertain, have dinner, have a conversation without a television.”
Kunal Kemmu had recalled how they had celebrated his 30th birthday in this house, “We made such lovely memories in this house I remember. It was my 30th birthday, I was working and Soha decided to throw me a big surprise party and I have never have so many people in the house. The biggest house party that ever happened. That is one of the fondest memories I have in this house. Then of course, we got married in this house.” Soha had continued, “Yes, completely different to a wild 30th birthday party to an intimate, classy wedding that we had at home. A lot of people said that why didn’t you get married at Pataudi, a beautiful palace with gardens and every girl’s dream is to get married in such a grand way. But both of us were quite clear that we wanted an intimate affair, very few people, close friends and family only. And I think it’s a very nice way to start a journey in a home together with a beautiful memory like marriage. Then of course, bringing our daughter home, spending time with her and seeing our party areas transform into play areas for our child.”
Kunal Kemmu had revealed one bizarre requirement of his wife, Soha Ali Khan when they were house-hunting, “In the last three months, we’ve spent almost every single day given the situation and I have not had a single day where I felt bored of this house. So, it’s worth it you know, all the trouble that people go through while finding a house like we did. We saw so many houses and we had certain requirements like she wanted a jamun tree for some reason around the house that we lived in. It was the toughest thing to find. We did find one but the jamun tree was the best thing about that house. So, I said I’ll buy you a jamun tree and we’ll plant it near our house. But we are very happy that we found this house when we did and we can call it our home today!”
In an interview with the Vogue India, Soha Ali Khan had spoken about her wedding venue i.e., her home and had remarked, "Fortunately, we didn’t have to look far for our wedding venue. We had it right there at our doorstep—our home! With Tini's (interior architect Darshini Shah) attention to detail, our home came together as a true reflection of our styles, passions and stories. The vibrant yet warm interiors made it the ideal place to exchange our vows.” Darshini had echoed similar sentiments as Soha as she was quoted as saying, “Soha and Kunal wanted their house to be simple, yet exude a classic appeal. No frills, nothing ostentatious… The house turned out to be a perfect amalgamation of their personalities. It’s the right mix of formal yet chill which sets it apart.”
When asked to pick her favourite spots in the home, Soha Ali Khan had retorted, "The den is where we like to lounge around. There’s something about wooden tones mixed with soft couches, and that smell of books which makes the den quite a favourite in the house." Darshini Shah had elaborated, "The den is designed in a way that you can chill, watch movies, put your feet up and unwind." Darshini had concluded on the note, “Being child and pet-friendly, [Ali Khan's apartment] has all the elements of a fuss-free home. The classic accents give the house a royal feeling, with sturdy interiors to make it contemporary and stylishly young.” (Also Read: Sunny Leone And Daniel Weber's 19 Crore Worth Mansion In Los Angeles Is What 'Dream Come True' Means)
