The life of working mommies is not easy as it goes beyond the 9 to 5 routine just like any other housewife. Be it people asking them why they need to work and if their husband’s salary is not enough to relatives suggesting they quit the job and raise their kids the right way, society often uses the mum’s guilt to weigh women. However, actress, Soha Ali Khan has changed the stereotypes since she made a comeback to the silver screen in January 2022.
Soha grew up watching her parents, Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, work. Like her parents, Soha has an undying passion for films and has given some fantastic movies to the Hindi film industry. But, after marrying her longtime beau, Kunal Kemmu and embracing motherhood with the arrival of Inaaya Naumi Kemmu, Soha had taken a hiatus from the film industry. Now, in an interview, she revealed how she does not feel sorry anymore for leaving her daughter at home.

In a candid chat with the Hindustan Times, Soha Ali Khan shared how her four-year-old daughter, Inaaya, understands that her mom works in films but does not understand why her mom needs to work. Hence, the little munchkin keeps suggesting innovative ideas to Soha to avoid shooting. Soha can be quoted as saying:
“She gets it but she is still very much like ‘I don’t see why you have to’. She feels one person going is enough so the other person can be home.”
In the same conversation, Soha narrated a hilarious incident when Inaaya had asked her nanny to go for a shooting so that she could spend time with her mother, Soha instead. After which, the doting mother made her understand that her nanny is brilliant at her work, but she cannot go on the film sets and act. In her words:
“I leave her with a very capable nanny. The last time I left her at night, I told her Rashmi didi (the nanny) will make you sleep. She said, ‘will she manage, what if I need something?’ So, I told her, she is brilliant. She can do anything. Inaaya said, ‘so why don’t you send her for shooting and you stay home with me’. I said, ‘she is not that brilliant’. I didn’t even know what to say to that actually.”

Further, in the interview, Soha Ali Khan shared that initially, she used to say sorry to Inaaya before leaving for work. But, now she feels that Inaaya is old enough to understand that her mother is a working lady and she too works, not only her dad, Kunal Kemmu. Soha said she does not feel sorry about leaving her daughter at home anymore because she loves her job. She said:
“In my early days, I used to say sorry when I left her and told her I’d be back soon. Now, I really make an effort to say, ‘I’m going because I love it. I enjoy my work. And only because I love it would I choose to spend this time away from you and you’ll understand that’. She already is old enough to enjoy herself when I’m not there. There are, of course, times when she misses me but she is getting used to it.”
