Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal, who started dating around sometime in 2017, recently tied the knot. Just like their low-key relationship, the couple opted for an intimate wedding ceremony at the actress' home on June 23, 2024. Following which, the newlyweds hosted a lavish reception party for their families, industry friends and other loved ones.
After a month of their marriage, Zaheer's parents expressed their thoughts on their new bahu, Sonakshi. The actress' in-laws heaped praise on her in an audio message while she and Zaheer appeared for an interview with Galatta India. They mentioned that she's an extremely kind and genuine person. Zaheer's parents said that Sonakshi has a heart of 'asli sona' (pure gold).

Further, Zaheer's mother said that she could never imagine anyone but Sonakshi as her son's life partner. She also added that she felt blessed to have the actress as a daughter. Her in-laws sent their best wishes and blessing to the couple in the same message. They can be heard saying:
"Zaheer's Mom: Hi, Sona, just wanted to tell you how happy and blessed we are to have you as our daughter now. Seeing you and Zaheer so happy together makes us feel that you were truly meant to be. You have a heart of asli sona, you have given us so much love and respect and I can't think of anyone better for Zaheer. God bless you both always and always.
Zaheer's Dad: God bless both you, take care, be happy."
Prior to Sonakshi and Zaheer's wedding in June 2024, reports surfaced in the media claiming that the actress' parents weren't happy with her decision to get married to Zaheer. However, the veteran actor-turned-politician has repeatedly refuted such baseless claims and he has stated that Sonakshi and Zaheer are 'made for each other.' In the same interview, Shatrughan Sinha's video message for the couple was played and he said:

"They are an absolutely made for each other couple. Logo ne kuch bhi kehne ki koshish ki, but for us, the happiness of our children is paramount, especially that of our daughter. When we felt that she is happy and she will remain happy. After all, she hasn’t done anything unconstitutional or against the law. Parents do a lot for their children, and this was our tiny contribution, to stand with our daughter."

In the same conversation, Sonakshi shared how her father reacted when she first told him about her plans of marrying Zaheer. She said that the conversation went a lot smoother than she initially had thought. The actress revealed that her father blessed the couple saying that they both are grown up adults and they should tie the knot as they love each other. In her words:
"I told him about Zaheer and that we’ve been together for so long, he makes me very, very happy and he’s my best friend and so I had a very lovely chat with my dad. I thought it would be so difficult but it was actually so easy. And the best thing my dad told me after the conversation was, ‘You’ll are grown adults, you’ll love each other, toh miyan biwi raazi toh kya karega kaazi? Go for it.’ It was literally that simple. Once that happened, we knew this was it, we don’t need anything else in the world."
