Sonakshi Sinha Reveals She And Zaheer Iqbal Switched Off Comments Section On Wedding: 'Log Bakwas..'

Sonakshi Sinha married her best friend, Zaheer Iqbal on June 23, 2024. The couple surprised all their fans and well-wishers with their private wedding, which was followed by a grand reception. Sonakshi and Zaheer dated for seven years before getting married on the same date when they had first met. However, ever since they got married, people haven't stopped trolling the couple. Sonakshi had to take a bold step and switch off the comment section on her wedding post.

Sonakshi Sinha shares why she turned off the comments section on her wedding day

Sonakshi and Zaheer had a civil marriage at her posh Bandra residence. Their friends and families were present on their big day, but when the couple shared their first wedding snaps, they had to turn off the comments section. In an interview with Hauterrfly, Sonakshi shared how trolls affected her and Zaheer on their big day. She revealed that, just leading up to the marriage, there was a lot of noise. In her words:

"Bahut log etna sara bakwas kar rahe thei that you had to literally just switch off. Kaan tak aata tha. That's why we put our comments off. On my big day that I have been waiting for so liong mujhe yeh bakwas dekhni hi nai hai. The collateral damage of that was people who actually wished well for me I could't read their messages also. But like I said humne ess tarah mei shadi ki whoever showered us with love and was genuinely happy for us that made the day even more special."

Sonakshi and Zaheer have been a match made in heaven. She further stated that she does not know what happened the day she got married. As the couple received an outpour of love, which was a switch, and she addressed it as 'phenomenal'.

When Shatrughan Sinha reacted to Sonakshi Sinha being trolled for her interfaith marriage

Shatrughan, Sonakshi's dad, did not react to his daughter and son-in-law Zaheer being trolled for the longest time. However, he had spoken his mind once in an interview with Times Now and shared that people would always have an opinion about something and that his daughter getting married was totally a personal matter. Shatrughan, a proud father added:

"Anand Bakshi Saab has written about such professional protesters Kuch toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna. My daughter has done nothing illegal or unconstitutional. A marriage is a very personal decision between two people. No one has the right to interfere or comment. To all the protestors I say, 'Go get a life. Do something useful with your life.' Bas, aur kuch nahin kehna."

Sonakshi and Zaheer had twinned in ivory-hued attires, and their mind-blowing chemistry had floored everyone. The couple had written an emotional and heartfelt post where they revealed about getting married on the same day they exactly fell in love seven years back. The post read:

“On this very day, seven years back (23.06.2017) in each other's eyes, we saw love in its purest form and decided to hold on to it. Today that love has guided us through all the challenges and triumphs… leading up to this moment… where with the blessings of both our families and both our gods… we are now man and wife. (sic).”
