Sonali Bendre is one of the most beautiful and evergreen actresses in Indian cinema, who has charmed her fans right from day one with her gorgeous features and terrific skills. Back in the ‘90s, she rose to prominence as no less than a national crush, and some of her films like Sarfarosh, Hum Saath Saath Hai, Diljale, Duplicate and many others received humongous love and appreciation throughout the country. Having swooned so many people with her unmatched beauty, Sonali also used to be the admiration of not just her fans, but also other celebrities. One such person was the eminent Pakistani cricketer, Shoaib Akhtar.
In a recent conversation with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, Sonali Bendre reacted to the popular gossip of the ‘90s, wherein Pakistani cricketer, Shoaib Akhtar had revealed that he would kidnap the diva if she wouldn’t accept his proposal. In her response so many years later, Sonali remarked that she finds it difficult to believe that the cricketer must have said anything like that. In her words:
“I don’t know how true this is, even in those times there used to be fake news.”

Moving forth in the conversation, Sonali Bendre revealed that in her real life, she is not a cricket fan and it is instead her hubby, Goldie Behl and their son, who love the sport. Moreover, the actress revealed that she doesn’t like going down to a cricket stadium and watch IPL matches, as she finds it uncomfortable and noisy. She expressed:
“Yes…in the start of the tournament. But it’s too hot out there [in the stadium] and so much noise, making quite uncomfortable to sit.”
Back in the days, link-ups between actors and cricketers was quite a common factor, and many such real-life couples indeed ended up to be each other’s forever by getting married. One such situation speculatively arose between Pakistani cricketer, Shoaib Akhtar and Bollywood diva, Sonali Bendre. Back in the times, it was a strong conjecture that the cricketer had a huge crush on her, and even was desirous of marrying her.

He even carried a photo of Sonali in his wallet. Moreover, his feelings were so strong at a time that Shoaib, in one of his interviews, had proclaimed if Sonali didn’t accept his proposal, he would perhaps kidnap her. However, years later, Shoaib Akhtar came upfront and set the record straight, claiming that he never made all those comments in the first place.

Previously, in an interview with News18 Showsha, Sonali Bendre remembered how during the ‘90s, she and many other actresses of her time, were frequently embroiled in link-up rumours with many of her co-stars. She mentioned how tabloids and gossip columns would simply weave false stories without even asking her permission. She explained:
“Gossips and newsmakers jumping to conclusions – be it about who you’re seeing or the affairs you’re having or even the fights you’re having with your co-stars – come under the gamut of ‘where did that come from?’ And most of the time, such things that were written about me weren’t true at all.”
