Life is unexpected, and no one knows what’s planned to come the very next moment. There is no doubt that 2018 has been extremely lucky for many of our tinsel town celebs, but it was a sheer shock when another cancer news from showbiz came to the forefront. While fans were sinking in the news of Irrfan Khan’s cancer announcement, that our beautiful B-town diva, Sonali Bendre shared her news of suffering from Stage 0, which blew everyone’s mind.
Currently, Sonali is in New York for her cancer treatment and as per reports, she is fighting like a warrior princess. While her chemotherapy sessions are going on, she is still living her life to the fullest as she is seen chilling with friends and sharing positive posts on social media. Topping it all, Sonali recently attended bride-to-be Priyanka Chopra’s bridal shower. Yes, that’s absolutely right and we in fact shared this news with you earlier. Wishing Priyanka and sharing how strange she felt wearing a bright colour like red (amidst her chemo sessions), Sonali shared a picture with her and Neetu ji (who is also in New York for Rishi Kapoor’s undisclosed disease). She captioned the snap as, “It's always lovely to be part of someone's special moment and more so when it's a dear friend. What a fabulous evening @priyankachopra!!! Your bridal shower was filled with so much love and laughter. I wish all that and more for you as you take this next big step. Big hug and much love. P.S. it felt so great and also somewhat strange to wear a bright colour again! #RedIsTheColourOfRebirth”. Priyanka happens to be very close and good friends with Sonali. In fact, sometime back when Sonali’s therapies had started, she had to shave her head. At that time, it was Priyanka who helped her get connected to a proficient hairdresser who created her look. Sonali took to her Instagram account and thanked Priyanka for the same. In that post she wrote, "Vanity is my favourite sin." - Al Pacino Well, it might not be my all-time favourite sin (that would be gluttony), but who doesn't like looking good? The way we look has a profound psychological impact on us... A little vanity here and there does no one any harm.”
She has further added, “It's important to do what makes you happy, even if it's something as simple as wearing a wig, bright red lipstick, high heels.... All that white noise doesn't make a difference in the larger picture. No one can tell you what's right or wrong for you. When I was testing out the wigs, I had a brief moment of self-doubt... "Am I vain for wanting to look good?" As part of the entertainment industry, you're always expected to look good.” (Also Read: Malaika Arora Khan Leaves A 'Steaming Compliment' For Arjun Kapoor On His Halloween Look)

Sonali went on to write, “Maybe that has been ingrained in me? But then I gave it a thought and I realized I like looking good for me. If I'm in the mood to wear a scarf, I will. If I want to walk around bald and free, I will. Only you know what would make you feel good, and what works best for you. So take every opportunity you can to #SwitchOnTheSunshine. #OneDayAtATime Thank you @priyankachopra for connecting me with the amazing @bokheehair, who created my new look.”
Breaking the heart-wrenching news of her cancer on social media in July 2018, Sonali wrote, “Sometimes when you least expect it, life throws you a curveball. I have recently been diagnosed with high-grade cancer that has metastasized, which we frankly did not see coming. A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My family and close friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for. I am very blessed and thankful for each of them.” (Suggested Read: Taimur Ali Khan Shouts 'NO' To Paparazzi Wearing His Monster Tee On Halloween [Video Inside])
She further added, "There is no better way to tackle this than to take swift and immediate action. And so, as advised by my doctors, I am currently undergoing a course of treatment in New York. We remain optimistic and I am determined to fight every step of the way. What has helped has been the immense outpouring of love and support I've received over the past few days, for which I am very grateful. I'm taking this battle head-on, knowing I have the strength of my family and friends behind me."
Sonali, we miss you here in India. We wish you a speedy recovery. More power and much love!
