Bollywood actress, Sonam Kapoor is known for her impeccable fashion sense. From suits, dresses, and co-ords to sarees, Sonam's wardrobe can easily provide a handbook on fashion. Furthermore, the stunning actress keeps giving fashion goals with each of her public appearances and photoshoots. Not only that, recently, Sonam opened up about styling herself in her film, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, and the places from where she got inspired are simply note-worthy.
In an interview with the IANS, Sonam Kapoor revealed that the outfits she wore in her film, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, were styled by herself. However, she also clearly mentioned that she had only designed western outfits, whereas her Indian ensembles were perfectly made by the ace designer, Anamika Khanna. Further, revealing how the director of the film, Sooraj Barjatya also helped her in making her realise the power of cinema, she said:
“Prem Ratan Dhan Payo was a film which reached the length and breadth of India. It was one of my films which worked very, very well and Anamika (Khanna) had done all the clothes that I had worn. I had styled myself in the film; the western wear was what I had picked up, but all my Indian wear was designed by Anamika Khanna. I realised that is the power of cinema. I didn’t understand it initially and Sooraj ji (Barjatya) told me that there was this green sari that Madhuri (Dixit) had worn in one of his films and the lilac and yellow sari which Amrita (Rao) had worn and these outfits had really worked. ”

In the same conversation, Sonam talked about the inspiration from where she thought of planning her outfits. She mentioned that the colours, she had worn in the film were all curated from the then-recent wedding parties, she had attended. Elaborating more about it, she mentioned how she incorporated the similar styles and patterns worn by her friends during their weddings, into her outfits for the film and added:
“Sooraj ji was like, ‘these are the colours that I want, and you will see that it will work’. In my late 20’s, a lot of my friends were getting married at that time and I was going for these weddings and I saw a lot of them wearing these same Anamika outfits that I wore in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and I found that so amazing and felt so happy and proud!”
On October 28, 2023, Sonam Kapoor made a stunning appearance at a fashion show and looked ethereal in a lehenga from the ace deisgner, Abhinav Mishra's collection. Sonam paired her white-coloured lehenga with a matching sultry blouse featuring a plunging neckline and a dupatta. Sonam's entire outfit featured intricate thread embroidery and mirror-work all over it. In addition, she accentuated her look with a statement kundan choker, a pair of jhumkas, and a ring. She kept her hair open and opted for smokey eyes, nude lipstick, blushed and highlighted cheeks to amp up her look.

On October 27, 2023, Sonam graced the opening ceremony of the Jio MAMI Film Festival and looked every bit regal in a black-coloured velvet co-ord set. Her outfit included a peplum top that featured a plunging neckline and statement sleeves. She styled it with a matching hued skirt, which was attached with mesh-patterned pearl strings. Sonam complemented her look with a pearl necklace, matching earrings, bold red lips, a big hat and a sleek bun.
