In an interview with Brides Today, when Janhvi was asked where she would like to get married, the Dhadak actress replied, "I remember when I went to Florence, which was a few years ago, I said that I want to get married there. It's still Florence.” Further, explaining what she would like to wear on her D-day, Janhvi went on to add, “I want to get married in a Kanjeevaram sari with all gold zari." In fact, in a throwback interview, Sridevi had said that she would be happy to see Janhvi getting married. She had stated, “She wanted to do the film and initially, I wasn’t in favour. I don’t think it’s a bad industry. I am a creation of this world. But, as a parent, it would give me greater joy to see her married. But her happiness matters more, and if she does well as an actress, I will be a proud mother.”
Soon this statement of the late actress was misunderstood by one and all. Soon she took to tweet to clear the air and defend herself and wrote, "My comment was misunderstood, and it really concerns me that it's sounding like I believe girls are only meant to get married and settle down. That's not what I want for my daughters, I want them to be able to stand on my own feet and have their own identity. I've always told them never to be dependent on anyone in any capacity." And then, she remarked, "It's very important to me that young girls understand that the end goal of their life is not to have babies and they have every right to make something of themselves. What I meant to say initially was that I would prefer if my daughters didn't lead the kind of hectic life that comes with this business and instead, have a relatively stable and relaxing life. But they are ambitious, and I have come to respect that like every parent should, and that respect overshadows my protective parental instincts now."
While talking to Vogue about the void that her mother Sridevi’s sudden demise has left in her life, Janhvi said, “The family has come together. It’s made us feel safe and secure. Even for papa (Boney Kapoor), it’s a source of comfort. It has definitely tied us together. We’ve lost mum, and I don’t think that’s a loss any of us will ever get over”.
Further, sharing about her debut film, Dhadak and how she wants her parents to be proud of her, the budding actress was quoted as saying, “I am so proud of my parents. I need to make them as proud of me. That has always been my motivation. I want mine to be ‘the debut’. But it comes from an honest and sincere place. Mum always told me, it’s not about the kind of role or movie you do; you need to make an impression- that’s an actor’s job. She never encouraged jealousy or frustration. We’re capable of being happy for others”. (Also Read: Sonali Bendre Behl Flaunts 20-Inch Scar From Cancer Surgery, Says She Doesn't Find It Ugly Anymore)
Revealing the last words that Sridevi told her before leaving for the heavenly abode, Janhvi had retorted, "Of course. I could always be the baby with her. When I’d wake up, the first thing I’d do was ask for her. I’d need her to put me to sleep sometimes and she literally had to feed me. The day before she left for the wedding, I had to shoot, but I couldn’t sleep, so I was like, “I need you to come and put me to sleep.” But she was packing, so by the time she came to me I was half asleep. But I could feel her patting my head. I’ve always been very bad at that. Khushi is very maternal with me. I am a full baby. She takes care of me. Now she comes and puts me to sleep sometimes".
Here's wishing Janhvi Kapoor a very happy birthday!
