Sonam Raghuvanshi, a woman from Indore, has surrendered herself for the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, when they had gone to Meghalaya for their honeymoon. Little did Raja know that the unplanned trip to Meghalaya would cost him his life. An extramarital affair of Sonam was the motive behind the murder of Raja. Now, amid this, a wedding video of Sonam and Raja surfaced on social media, and she looked upset in the video.

Sonam Raghuvanshi has been the prime suspect behind the murder of her husband, Raja, in the hills. Now, amid this, a wedding video of Sonam and her now deceased husband went viral, where the happy Raja was seen putting sindoor on Sonam, who was dressed in a red Benarsi saree and looked expressionless. Raja, on the other hand, had worn a white sherwani kurta along with a turban. Sonam was seen sitting emotionless in the video. It was on May 11, 2025, that Raja and Sonam got married, and on May 20, 2025, they went for their honeymoon in Meghalaya. It was on June 2, 2025, that Raja's body was found in a gorge, and the cops claimed that he was hacked to death by the usage of a machete.

After Sonam's arrest, when her wedding video went viral, netizens were shocked. One user commented, "She and her parents, they all knew about her affair! They all should be punished." Another one commented, "But he was looking happy. Not unhappy enough to murder someone cold-blooded." A user also wrote, "If her parents knew about her affair and forced her to marry Raja, then her parents should be tried with Abetment to murder, and all of them should be given capital punishment." Netizens even discussed parents not forcing their kids into arranged marriages. One user commented, "Parents should stop forcefully marrying their kids in the name of arranged marriage! In the name of sanskar, so many lives were lost!"

Sonam Raghuvanshi got arrested at a roadside eatery

Sonam got arrested from a roadside eatery in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. Reportedly, some cops had seen her at a roadside eatery located in the Nandganj police station area and then she was arrested. Although Idashisha Nongrang, who is the Meghalaya Director General of Police, confirmed that Sonam had surrendered and then she was arrested. The other three suspects whom Sonal allegedly hired to kill Raja were also arrested. One person was nabbed from UP, while the other two were nabbed from Indore.

The Meghalaya Police cracked Raja Raghuvanshi's murder case in just 7 days

It was just in 7 days that the Meghalaya Police created a major breakthrough in the murder case of Raja. Three murderers from Madhya Pradesh were arrested, while Sonam surrendered. The search to find one more killer is on yet. The information was tweeted by Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma. It was on May 23, 2025, when Raja, aged 29 and Sonam, aged 25, went missing after they checked out from a homestay in the Nongriat village located in East Khasi Hills. After Raja and Sonam arrived for their honeymoon on May 20, 2025, Raja was then hacked to death on June 2, 2025 and it was in a deep gorge located in Sohra that his body was found near a waterfall. It was 20 km away from where the pair was last seen.
