Sonia Gandhi, former Congress President, has been admitted to a hospital in Delhi. This was the second time that Sonia was in the hospital in June 2025.

Sonia Gandhi, Aged 78, ADMITTED In Delhi Hospital For Second Time In A Month

Sonia Gandhi, the former president of Congress and senior Congress leader was admitted to Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on June 15, 2025. A report by the ANI mentioned that Sonia was suffering from abdomen issues and, at the moment, has been stable and under observation in the gastroenterology department of the hospital. Well, this is not the first time in the month of June that Sonia was admitted to the hospital as earlier also she had faced a similar situation.

Why was Sonia Gandhi admitted to the hospital?

A statement released by Sonia's team sharted that the Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson e has been admitted to the gastro department due to stomach-related problem and is under observation. It was also during the first week of June that Sonia was got to Shimla's Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) Hospital  after repiortedly she complained of feeling restless. She went home post the checkup. Now, Sir Ganga Ram Hospitals doctor, Aman Chauhan, where Sonia is admitted shared that Sonia had come for a routine checkup. He shared in an interview with ANI:

“Sonia Gandhi was brought to the hospital for a routine checkup. Her blood pressure was slightly on the higher side, she is stable now."

Sonia Gandhi faced high blood pressure issues even in the first week of June 2025

It was on June 7, 2025 when Sonia's routine medical tests were done after she experienced a bout of high blood pressure episode. She was brought to the hospital for her routine medical follow-up and was raising a bit of minor health concerns. This was reported by Principal Advisor (Media) to the Himachal Pradesh chief minister, Naresh Chauhan. Sonia, in the past, was also admitted to the same hospital for stomach-related issues in Delhi. However, when Sonia in June faced blood pressure-related issues, she was discharged soon after the medical examinations.

Sonia Gandhi's medical history

According to reports floating online, Sonia has had a history of having stomach-related issues, and her frequent admission to the hospital has proven the same. She has been under the supervision of a gastroenterology expert. It was earlier in 2022 when Sonia had been to the US for a postponed medical checkup, which took time because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sonia's son, Rahul Gandhi, had also gone with her. The news of Sonia's international medical trip was confirmed by Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala, who expressed his humility to Sonia's fans who were worried about her health.

Reportedly, when Sonia was in the USA for her impending medical checkup, her party saw restructuring taking place. When something happens to the senior Congress politician, her sea of supporters gets immensely worried. The health of Sonia has always been a topic of concern, where her party members and supporters have been wishing for her speedy recovery. They were not happy to hear that Sonia had to visit Sri Ganga Ram Hospital after she came back from Shimla.
