Sonu Sood REACTS After Spiti Police Takes Action Against Him For Riding Bike Without Helmet

Actor, Sonu Sood landed himself in a soup when an old clip of him having an adventurous bike ride at Spiti Valley sans a helmet surfaced. The clip, dated from 2023, went viral on social media, and then Spiti Police issued a statement saying that action would be taken against Sonu. Now, he has reacted to the tweet by the police and shared that he had to ride the bike without helmet as the script demanded.

In the clip that went viral, Sonu was seen riding a bike shirtless with his shades on, black shorts and without a helmet. Other clips went viral where he was seen donning a helmet, however, it was this video that got slammed as he was seen without a helmet. He was also accompanied by a group of other bikers. Sonu took to X to give a clarification related to the clip and revealed that it was the demand of his script, and tweeted:

“Safety First. We always abide by the laws, an old clip without the helmet was a part of our script. So kindly ignore. Ride safe, smart. Always wear a helmet."

What did the Spiti Police say about Sonu Sood riding a bike without a helmet?

Sonu's old script demanded him to ride the bike without helmet, but the actor did not clarify the project that he was shooting for. The Spiti Police had earlier stated on social media that the actor had violated traffic rules in the Lahaul Spiti district. A part of the tweet by the police department read:

"According to preliminary information, the video appears to be from the year 2023. However, the task of investigating the authenticity has been handed over to DySP Headquarters, Kyelang. Whatever necessary action is required as per the law, it will be taken by the district police. District Police Lahaul-Spiti appeals to all citizens and tourists to follow traffic rules and adopt disciplined and responsible behaviour.”

When Sonu Sood preached the importance of road safety

Sonu Sood, had earlier shared an important message with his fans. His wife and two others had received minor injuries in a car accident that took place in Wardha area of Nagpur in March 2025. He voiced a message for everyone and stated that it was the seatbelt that saved his wife, sister and nephew. Sonu shared:

"There is a very important message. Last week, there was a very big accident in Nagpur in which my wife, her nephew and her sister were inside the car. The whole world has seen the condition of the car. You know that if anyone saved them, it was the seat belt. It was just a minute after they (his wife and her two kin) wore the seat belt that the devastating accident took place."

Sonu spread awareness about seatbelts and in his video also emphasised that it was the idea of his producer wife, Sonali, who insisted that his sister, Sunita, and nephew, Siddharth, wear the seatbelt. Sonali and Sunita were admitted to Max hospital and then got discharged.
