South Indian Child Actress, Avantika Vandanapu Is The First Indian-American Lead In A Disney Movie

South Indian Child Actress, Avantika Vandanapu Is The First Indian-American Lead In A Disney Movie

Avantika Vandanapu is leaving no opportunity out of her hands to shine bright as a star. The actress started her acting career in Mahesh Babu’s 2016 movie, Brahmotsavan and later featured in several other Tamil and Telegu movies. She later went abroad and started her career as an actress and social media personality in the States. Avantika is now a budding actress who has grown into a beautiful lady, and it’s not just us who are in awe of her transformation. Even Disney has cast her, the Indian-origin actress, as their main lead.

Indians, for the longest time, have wished and prayed to see one of their kind on the big screens as a lead, and their wish is finally turning into reality. Avantika Vandanapu has bagged the lead role in the Disney movie, A Crown Of Wishes’ live action. It is a young adult fantasy movie based on Roshani Chokshi’s book, 'Star-Touched Queen'. It is heavily influenced by Hindu mythology and will present Avantika as a never-seen-before avatar.

Apart from this Avantika has also essayed the lead in another Disney movie, Spin. It’s a 2021 coming-of-age film where Avantika’s ‘Rhea’ overcomes numerous obstacles to pursue her passion of becoming a DJ mixer. The movie is available on Disney + Hotstar. 

Avantika Vandanapu stuns in Mean Girls: The Musical as the new age ‘Karen’

All movie buffs out there are well aware of how iconic the movie, Mean Girls was. The 20024 release had everyone gaping at the intriguing storyline and the acting chops of the movie's entire cast. A decade later, an Indian-origin girl, Avantika Vandanapu, stars in their reboot movie as one of the OG Mean Girls, 'Karen's 2024 version. The film was releaed on January 12, 2024, and received mixed response from the audience, but Avantika was widely appreciated for her acting skills.

For the unversed, Avantika Vandanapu is currently settled in California but her family roots hail from Hyderabad, India. She was born in San Francisco to a Telegu family and has been featured in several South Indian movies like Boomika, Rarandoi Veduka Chudham, Agnyaathavaasi and more.
