Over the years, the South Korean entertainment industry has seen a significant boom in its popularity worldwide, thanks to its music and dramas. One such singer who has entertained and held high the Hallyu flag is former girl band, T-ARA singer, Areum. The girl band was formed in 2009 by MBK Entertainment. Initially, the band had seven members: Qri, Eunjung, Hyomin, Jiyeon, Jeon Boram, Park So Yeon and Lee Areum. However, later, the band was dismantled due to creative differences.
On December 10, 2023, Lee Areum took to her Instagram account and announced that she would marry her current boyfriend soon after legally divorcing her husband. In 2019, Areum tied the knot with businessman, Kim Young Gul. But after not much into their married life, the couple started to have issues in their paradise. The former couple have been living for a long time. Aerum further added:

“We will register our marriage as soon as the divorce lawsuit is over, and we have already promised to marry each other. We will achieve our dreams together coolly, and have promised to set up the “Areum Foundation” to help many children.”

In the same post, Areum revealed that she has not in any capacity cheated on her first husband, Kim Young Gul, as he has been missing from her life for a long time. Areum divulged that he has all alone given birth to her second child and has led a very miserable married life, and now, after finding her current boyfriend, she feels safe and secure. She feels like she deserves to be happy and will, from now on, enjoy her life. Areum also added:
“The definition of “cheating” is when someone loves two people at the same time. I gave birth to my second child alone, and I’ve lived a miserable life. I’ve been holding on barely, thinking about my children. I want to enjoy my life now. In the future, I’ll be dealing with malicious comments and guesses strictly. You’re free to think whatever you want to, but please remember that if you speak those thoughts out, you can be punished. I hope you make good decisions. I hope you will only leave comments of hope and support.”

After sharing her trauma from her marriage, Areum revealed that her current boyfriend has helped her to heal and finally be happy in her life. She added that her partner protects and pushes her to give her her best at life. With his support and protection, Areum feels the strongest and is ready to take on the next challenges in life. Areum added:
“I’ve found someone who makes me always want to be next to him. He is someone who fills my once painful dreams with hope and flutters and is bearing many things to help make my dreams come true. I’ve really met someone who is so precious, and is someone I am grateful for. Although I’ve been plagued by rude words to the end, I think that as long as I can stand proud, everything is fine.”
Areum continued:
"Although I’ve continued to be tortured, and they even suggested coming to a compromise, even that has been postponed. But because someone I love is protecting me, I will not give up, and I am trying my best to enjoy life. I am also making the effort to make things up with good memories with my child. Thinking about it again, I’m really grateful. I’m searching for happiness with this person, and through true love, I am overcoming these painful times."
