Following legal pushbacks, thanks to a new multi-billion-dollar streaming deal between creators Trey Parker & Matt Stone and Paramount Global, South Park will now be hosted exclusively on Paramount+ going forward. In a statement following the signing of the new deal, creator Matt Stone said in a statement:

“We are grateful for this opportunity and deeply honoured by the trust placed in us. This is about more than a contract — it’s about our commitment to this organisation, our teammates, and our fans. We’re focused on building something special and doing whatever it takes to bring championships to this city.”

Why was Season 27 delayed?

Season 27 of South Park was originally slated for a premiere on July 9, 2025, but it was pushed back last minute due to legal conflicts surrounding the merger between Paramount and Skydance. On July 2, 2025, the show’s creators announced the delay in a social media post and wrote:

What to expect in South Park Season 27?

For long-time South Park fans, it’s no surprise that the show doesn’t hold back. True to its bold, satirical style, the Season 27 premiere dives straight into hot issues like government censorship, chaotic school assemblies, and even a wild take on President Donald Trump. Known for skewering everything from politics and pop culture to religion, South Park is back with its signature no-filter storytelling.

Until recently, all 26 previous seasons were available only on HBO Max. However, with the new streaming deal, the entire South Park library is being moved to Paramount+ for a global audience. With the legal roadblocks now cleared, Season 27 is officially underway, with ten brand-new episodes scheduled to air in the coming weeks.

What makes South Park a cult favourite show?

South Park debuted in 1997 and has since remained one of the most-talked-about animated sitcoms worldwide. Mainly designed for a mature audience for its bold content, the show centres around four foul-mouthed kids, Stan, Cartman, Kyle, and Kenny, and cleverly comments on real-world issues through the lens of exaggerated absurdity and biting satire. With Season 27 now rolling, it’s safe to say the creators still have a lot to say.
