'Splitsvilla 16', A Major Twist Brought To The TV Dating Reality Show, Here's What We Know

Splitsvilla has become a fan favourite show over the years. The show has returned with a new season, Splitsvilla X6. This season is hosted by TV star, Karan Kundrra and Canadian-American actress, Sunny Leone. For the unversed, the TV dating reality show premiered on January 9, 2026. Uorfi Javed and Nia Sharma have also joined the show, bringing a change in the old format. Now that the first episode of Splitsvilla 16 premiered, let’s find out what the major twist is that has been brought to the gameplay.

During the launch event of the show, MTV Splitsvilla X6: Pyaar ya Paisa, Sunny Leone shared that the show has always been very close to her heart. She highlighted that over the years, the show has grown with changing mindsets and dating styles, and this season is no exception. She mentioned that Season 16 has brought the 'Pyaar ya Paisa' twist, where emotions will be tested, bonds will be challenged and more. She was quoted as saying:

"Splitsvilla has always been very close to my heart because it reflects how love, relationships and choices keep evolving with every generation. Over the years, I’ve seen the show grow with changing mindsets, dating styles and the realities of modern love. This season, with the ‘Pyaar ya Paisa’ twist, the stakes are higher than ever - emotions will be tested, bonds will be challenged, and surprises will come from the most unexpected places. I’m truly excited to take this journey once again and can’t wait for all the Splitspaglus to witness the drama, passion and twists unfold from 9th January onwards!"

During the same event, Karan Kundrra also talked about the changes brought to the show, MTV Splitsvilla X6: Pyaar ya Paisa. He called his return to MTV after six years a 'homecoming' moment and addressed Splitsvilla as one of the channel’s iconic shows. He expressed his excitement to host the show alongside Sunny Leone. He highlighted that this time the excitement is quite high as it will be interesting to see what happens to the journey of love when money enters the picture. He revealed that Nia Sharma and Uorfi Javed have joined the show as mischief makers, who will throw challenges at the contestants at every step. He was quoted as saying:

"I am super excited to host this season alongside Sunny Leone, who knows the game inside out. What excites me most is seeing how contestants navigate this journey of love when money enters the picture and challenges their choices. It will also be interesting to watch how our mischief-makers, Nia and Uorfi, stir things up and tempt the contestants at every step. And with the show airing three times a week, there’s clearly going to be a lot more drama, fun and unexpected twists coming your way!"

More about the show, Splitsvilla X6

According to a report by Media Brief, the show, Splitsvilla X6, will feature 32 contestants and is set in Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu. The show will air every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7 pm on MTV India and JioHotstar. This season, the 32 contestants will be divided into two groups; one group will stay in Pyaar Villa, and the other group will stay in Paisa Villa.

According to a Free Press Journal, the single women who joined Splitsvilla X6 are Akanksha Choudhary from Jaipur, Sadhaaf Shankar from Afghanistan, Anjali from Bangalore, Soundharya Shetty from Mangalore, Anisha Shinde from Mumbai, Diksha Pawar from Gurgaon, Suzanne and Simran. The single men who joined the show are Sorab Bedi from Gurgaon, Anuj Sharma from Haryana, Tanye from South Africa, Yogesh Rawat from Bangalore and Chakshdeep from Ghaziabad.
