'Squid Games Season 3' Receives BACKLASH From Viewers For Its Unrealistic Childbirth Scene

Netflix’s recently released show, Squid Games Season 3 generated a lot of buzz before its release also. However, despite all the buzz and excitement, the show is currently receiving a lot of backlash for its unrealistic birth scene in Episode 2. The birth of Player 222 happened mid-game in under five minutes, with no visible pain or medical support has sparked a lot of heated debates.

Unrealistic childbirth scene in the show

In the Episode 2 of Squid Game Season 3, a scene happens in which Jun-hee went into labour. Despite the deadly and dangerous settings, she gives birth in just a few minutes and with no medical help. The fact that Jun-hee showed no signs of pain, bleeding or tiredness, disappointed and triggered the viewers. After the delivery, she stood up and carried on, as if nothing happened.

Fans were quick to respond to that scene as birth is normally a very long and painful procedure. Users seemed extremely upset with the fake portrayal, especially since there was no amniotic fluid, no delivery of the placenta, and no signs of postpartum weakness. Viewers felt the scene didn’t just ignore basic facts about childbirth—it made it look easy and casual, which isn’t true at all. People criticised the show's creators for writing the scene. Critics said the scene didn’t match the serious tone of the series and felt careless.

Online backlash received on the show

The childbirth scene in Squid Game Season 3 triggered a strong backlash online. Viewers on Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) expressed their disappointment. One user wrote, "The baby CGI was also very bad", while another said, "The baby derailed the plot so hard." One user also commented, "Junhee gave birth in less than 15 minutes, no bleeding, nothing, but her broken ankle was treated as more painful than childbirth." The audience criticised the male director saying he failed to understand the pain a female goes through. One user said, "Obviously the director has never given birth." Some users also felt like that particular scene ruined the entire season and the overall experience of the audience.
