Bollywood superstars, Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan, made a recent appearance at Leicester Square in London. They unveiled a bronze statue of their iconic pose from their superhit movie, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Their movie clocked 30 years since it released and they commemorated in a special way. The statue is now a part of the famous Scenes In The Square film trail in Leicester Square, which is the Heart of London Business Alliance. However, did SRK and Kajol fans endure a two-hour wait in the rain before the bronze statue was unveiled?

A video by Diet Paratha has gone viral, celebrating 30 years of SRK and Kajol's hit movie, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, with a permanent "mannequin challenge" installation. As seen in the video, SRK was holding Kajol and standing under an umbrella as it rained continuously in Leicester. The installation showed SRK and Kajol striking an iconic pose. Their fans had gathered to witness the grand moment, but noted how the statue got drenched in the rain. Diet Paratha in the caption wrote:

"London woke up with a new king and queen SRK and Kajol in Leicester..creasing this she is drenched. Permanent mannequin challenge to celebrate 30 years of DDLJ unveiled today after 2 hours of waiting in the pi**ing rain. Worth it? Questionable."

SRK and Kajol's bronze statue of their iconic roles from DDLJ comes days post the 30th release anniversary of the movie. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was the directorial debut movie of Aditya Chopra. The romantic cult classic film was produced by Aditya's father, the late Yash Chopra, under the Yash Raj Films banner. The installation has joined statues honouring characters from movies such as Harry Potter, Mary Poppins, Paddington, and Singin' in the Rain.

Shah Rukh Khan, at the launch event in Leicester, said the movie was made with a pure heart. He wanted to tell a story about love, how it can bridge barriers, and how the world would be a better place if it had a lot of love in it. King Khan emphasised that the element of love gave the film a lasting impression for more than 30 years. Kajol, speaking at the launch event, shared:

"Personally, ‘DDLJ’ is part of my identity, and it is humbling to see the film, and Kajol and me, receiving so much love since it was released. It’s incredible to see ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ continue to receive so much love, even 30 years later. Watching the statue being unveiled in London felt like reliving a piece of our history – a story that has truly travelled across generations.”

Aditya Chopra's romantic drama Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, released in 1995, showed how 'Raj' and 'Simran' fell in love while on a trip to Europe. They crossed paths for the first time at King's Cross station. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge held the record for the longest-running Bollywood movie in Hindi cinema. 'Raj' and 'Simran' do not know each other, but after they meet, they fall for each other over time. Their love story has its ups and downs, but in the end, they had a happily-ever-after.
