Sushant Singh Rajput was one of the most admired and inspiring actors in Bollywood. His journey from a humble background in Bihar to the big screen fueled the dreams of many aspiring actors in the country. On the other hand, his performance in films like M.S Dhoni-The Untold Story, Kai Po Che, Kedarnath and more proved his versatility. But, the rising star of Bollywood passed away at the young age of 34, leaving the nation in shock. Since then, there have been multiple controversies surrounding his demise. Amid this, recently, the actor's friend and TV actress, Krissann Barretto, shared how her career comes at risk whenever she talks about him.
Sushant Singh Rajput's fans were left heartbroken after his demise, and they have been waiting to know the exact nature of the events. Amid the ongoing controversy, the Kai Po Che actor's friend and TV actress, Krissann Barretto, recently sat down for a conversation on Shardul Pandit's podcast, Uncensored. Talking about Sushant, she revealed that she had to face many personal and emotional problems after talking about him. Best known for her work in Sasural Simar Ka, Krissann mentioned:
"In India, if you are an actor, you can't grieve. If your friend passes away, people assume you're posting for attention. Just because you're in front of a camera, they think you're performing. There's no room for genuine emotion."
She explained that talking about a deceased friend comes at the cost of their career when someone decides to talk about a friend who passed away in showbiz. Krissann claimed that there is a reason why no one talked about the case of the late actor because it would come with a different set of risks. The actress admitted she had to risk her career life, and even her parents were angry after she spoke up about her Sushant Singh Rajput in the media. In her words:
"No one is so foolish as to risk their life for attention. People don't realize how many doors get closed when you take a stand like this. It's happened to me. I was denied work."
In the same conversation, Krissann Barretto shared that despite the high risks of speaking about Sushant, she knew she would get nothing from it. But she had to do it for her late friend, and even after her friends asked her not to do so, the actress couldn't be silent. She said:
"I did it for my friend, not for fame. I don't care what I lose. Even my friends told me to stop. They'd call and say, 'Mat baat karo.' But I couldn't stay silent."
Recently, the Central Bureau of Investigation, tasked with investigating Sushant Singh Rajput's case four years ago, submitted its final report on the case on March 22, 2025. They have confirmed that they found no evidence that proved that Sushant was provoked to take his own life by suicide. Consequently, they ended the two cases filed in the case. Moreover, the AIIMS forensic team has found no basis for criminal conspiracy. So, they have cleared Sushant's then girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, of all charges, including abetment to suicide in the case.
