Steve Tasker is a well-known sports personality. The star player played for the NFL's Buffalo Bills from 1986 to 1997 as a wide receiver. However, recently he made headlines due to a Facebook post that claimed that the star had passed away at the age of 63.

Former NFL player, Steve Tasker, death hoax

It was on November 27, 2025 (ET), when the world was celebrating Thanksgiving, that a fake report emerged on Facebook which claimed that Buffalo Bills legend and former wide receiver, Steve Tasker, had died. However, fans were immediately skeptical of the report due to several incorrect details. The post listed Steve Tasker's year of birth as 1986, instead of 1962. It also claimed that the legendary player had died at the age of 62 when, in fact, he is 63 years old.

Steve Tasker shuts down the rumours

Just a few hours later, Steve Tasker took to social media to refute the false reports. The former Buffalo Bills player shared a screenshot of the post and clarified that he was alright. The bizarre report, which was shared by a page called 'Frozen Charge' on Facebook, claimed that 'his family' had announced his death. No such post could be found. Tasker bluntly wrote on X:

"I'm fine."

A comment read, "Damn, so sorry you have to deal with this nonsense, and on Thanksgiving of all days. Hope you can enjoy the rest of your day with your family and forget about this."

A comment read, "Are you sure? I mean…X is never wrong!" Another penned, "Dude. You're dead. Take the L. Some people." A comment said, "The giveaway should have been that he was 5 in Super Bowl XXV. But thank goodness it's not true!" A user further joked, "Shhhhh. We're trying to get you in the Hall of Fame." A user said, "Dang, you are older than me, yet you were born 2 decades AFTER me." Meanwhile, some fans noted that Tasker had appeared on The Sean McDermott Show earlier in the day as part of the team's preview of their clash against the Steelers.
