'Stranger Things: Tales From 85': Know About New Story That Will Fill Gaps Between Season 2 And 3

Stranger Things fans are gearing up for a double treat this season. As Stranger Things 5 prepares to premiere later this month, Netflix also dropped the first look at a brand new animated spinoff, Stranger Things: Tales From '85. The teaser was released to mark Stranger Things Day, promising a fresh take on Hawkins, Indiana, with new paranormal mysteries, animated adventures, and a voice cast set to bring familiar characters to life in a new style. Here's everything you must know about it.

What is Stranger Things: Tales From '85 about? 

Unlike the previous seasons in the franchise, Tales from '85 is set in the winter of 1985, which fills the narrative gap between Seasons 2 and 3 of the main show. The animated series does not focus on past deaths or the broader history of Hawkins, but instead introduces new monsters, fresh adventures, and some unexpected twists along the way. Viewers can expect to see some familiar faces, such as 'Dart', 'Dustin's demogorgon pet ', with the core group of heroes trying to make their way through supernatural chaos in their small town.

According to Variety, showrunner Eric Robles aims to capture the feel of classic '80s cartoons while preserving the show's spirit. The new show will feature a voice cast that includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as 'Eleven', Joie Hoang-Rappaport as 'Max', Luca Diaz as 'Mike', Elisha EJ Williams as 'Lucas', and more. Some other voice actors include Janeane Garofalo, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Odessa A'zion. 

When will Stranger Things 5 and Stranger Things: Tales From '85 release?

According to Deadline, Stranger Things: Tales From '85 is produced by Matt and Ross Duffer and Hilary Leavitt through Upside Down Pictures. Meanwhile, Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen are producing for 21 Laps Entertainment. The show's animation has been provided by Flying Bark Productions, promising unique adventures. According to Tudum, the show is set for a 2026 release. On the other hand, Stranger Things 5 is set to debut in three parts. Volume 1, comprising episodes 1-4, will be released on November 26, 2025. Volume 2, with episodes 5-7, will arrive on December 25, 2025,, and the final episode will premiere on December 31, 2025. There will be a limited theatrical run in the US and Canada on January 1, 224.

What is Stranger Things 5 about? 

Stranger Things 5 picks up where Season 4 left off, in the fall of 1987, about a year after the events of Season 4. Hawkins continues to be scarred by the open conflicts, and the group reunites with a single-minded man who has a single aim: to find and defeat Vecna. The season promises to be full of high-stakes action as the town falls under military quarantine. Simultaneously, the government intensifies their search for 'Eleven'. The show will mark the return of Winona Ryder, David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Millie Bobby Brown, and Finn Wolfhard. Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink and Jamie Campbell Bower, among others.
