Suchitra Krishnamoorthi made her debut in the Hindi film industry by playing the female lead in the 1994-released, Shah Rukh Khan starrer film, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. While she recorded a very short career in films, nevertheless, she also equally explored regional language films, especially in the South. After her hiatus from acting, she made her comeback in films in the year 2019, where she became a part of a few hit OTT-releases like Guilty Minds and Romeo Akbar Walter. Speaking about her personal life, Suchitra got married to eminent filmmaker, Shekhar Kapur, that ended in a bitter divorce in 2006. Currently, she is leading a happy life with her daughter, Kaveri.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Thikana, Suchitra recalled her broken marriage with Shekhar Kapur and spoke about how she could never forgive Preity Zinta for being the reason behind the same. For the unversed, back in the early 2000s, the two divas had an ugly verbal spat, wherein Suchitra in multiple interviews, hinted at Preity being a maneater who came between her and Shekhar Kapur. In her response, Preity too had called Suchitra mentally unstable and even took a dig at her for being a petty homemaker, while the former was still a reigning diva. And now, Suchitra expressed that she has not forgiven Preity yet. In her words:
“I didn’t have to take it. It’s a free world and she can say what she likes. I am very proud to be a homemaker. I was a full-time mom for 20 years and I am very proud of it. People are entitled to say whatever they want to say. Lies have speed and truth has stamina. I don’t need to forgive her. She is not a part of my consciousness at all. All these things do not exist for me, which is a good space to be in.”

In another recent interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi had spilt the beans about her past marital life, and mentioned how she wished to quit it within the first year itself. She mentioned that she had already got a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music at that time, and she was ready to quit her marriage and relocate, when she learnt that she was already pregnant with Shekhar’s child. Thus, she decided to hang into the marriage for a few more years.
Going further in the interview, Suchitra also mentioned how from the first day of their marriage, her ex-husband was very clear with his conditions that he didn't want his wife to act in movies. She revealed that Shekhar felt that the showbiz world tends to corrupt an individual. However, she also said that he was okay if she wanted to work in music albums or pursue singing. Later, Suchitra highlighted that since she was too young and naive, she readily accepted all his demands without a question.

In one of her earlier interviews with Bollywood Hungama, Suchitra spoke about her life right now, being a single mom to her grown-up daughter, Kaveri. She revealed that the latter has often attempted to put her name onto dating sites after her divorce. She mentioned that after doing it for the spirit of happiness for a couple of times, she realised that she was just good to be herself.
