Suhana Khan's Picture With Lighter Skin Goes Viral, Netizens Defend Her, Slam Trolling Of Dusky Skin

Suhana Khan, the darling daughter of Shah Rukh Khan, made her acting debut in Zoya Akhtar's directorial, The Archies. Since then, the star kid has been no stranger to criticism and trolling. Her on-screen presence and acting chops are often compared to her legendary dad, Shah Rukh, and she is often dragged into the nepotism debate. Not only that, everything from Suhana's dance to her walk has been brutally dragged by trollers. Recently, a screenshot of a video in which Suhana had significantly lighter skin went viral, sparking treatment rumours. However, unlike other instances, netizens came to her defence this time.

Suhana Khan's picture, featuring her significantly lighter skin, goes viral and sparks treatment rumours

Recently, a screenshot of Suhana Khan's Tira advertisement was posted on Reddit, with the OP pointing out her significantly lighter skin and suggesting that she had undergone skin-lightening treatment. For the unversed, appalling as it may seem, Suhana has been the subject of trolling due to her skin colour ever since she was a kid. However, the actress never let the hate get to her.

It was in 2020 when Suhana took to her Instagram story with several screenshots of the horrible comments calling her 'ugly' and 'kaali.' She penned a lengthy note about the issue of colourism within the country with the same, revealing that adult men and women had been passing nasty remarks about her skin tone since she was 12 years old.

Further in her note, Suhana talked about her pride in her beautiful skin tone, pointing out that Indians were 'automatically' brown. A part of her note read:

"Other than the fact that these are actual adults, what's sad is that we are all Indian, which automatically makes us brown - yes we come in different shades but no matter how much you try to distance yourself from the melanin, you just can't. Hating on your own people just means that you are painfully insecure. I'm sorry if social media, Indian matchmaking,or even your own families have convinced you, that if you're not 5'7 and fair you're not beautiful. I hope it helps to know that I'm 5'3 and brown and I am extremely happy about it and you should be too. #endcolourism."

Netizens defend Suhana Khan, pointing out that she was unnecessarily trolled for her skin tone

This time around, netizens were on Suhana Khan's side. Many argued that given the incessant trolling she endured despite choosing to embrace her natural skin tone, it made sense that she would undergo such treatment now. One user penned, "With the amount of trolling she undergoes, I wouldn't really be surprised if she whitewashes herself," while another wrote, "Not just that. Just imagine her low self-esteem because all her so-called besties (ananya, shanaya) are all unnaturally fair."

Other netizens pointed out the fact that Suhana seemed to be sitting in sunlight, which could change the appearance of a person's skin in the camera. One user wrote, "I have brown skin and I look like in good lighting too. Stop hating for no reason ffs. Also my skin tone goes from really dark to moderately dark based on how much sun i'm getting, y'all just wanna hate in anything and everything atp."

When Shah Rukh Khan reacted to his daughter, Suhana Khan, being called dusky

Shah Rukh Khan once addressed his endorsement of fairness products despite saying that people shouldn't be judged based on their looks in an interview with The Times Of India. The actor responded that he had never lied to his followers, and even instilled in his family the idea that a person should never be judged based on their looks. Speaking about his daughter, Suhana, Shah Rukh further said:

"I'll be honest; my daughter is sanwli (dusky), but she's the most beautiful girl in the world. And nobody can tell me otherwise."

What do you think of Suhana Khan's picture in which she has a lighter skin tone?
