Suniel Shetty is one of the most popular actors in the Bollywood film industry. He is well known for his straightforward nature. Earlier this year, the Hera Pheri 3 actor found himself at the centre of controversy after he made a comment on C-section. For the unversed, in an old interview, Suniel commented on how his daughter, Athiya, opted for natural delivery over C-section. However, the actor has again found himself in hot water. This time, he faced backlash due to a controversial comment.
Recently, Suniel Shetty sat for an interview with Pinkvilla and shared his take on the concept of marriage. The Hera Pheri actor expressed that nowadays people don’t have much patience. Suniel said that marriage needs compromise, and when a baby comes to the world, a woman must understand this and take care of the child, so that her husband can make his career. In his words:
"Aaj kal bachon mein patience hai hi nahi. Shaadi kuch time ke baad ek samjhauta hota hai, where you have to understand each other, live for each other. Phir ek bacha aata hai, aur patni ko yeh jaan na zaruri hai ki husband career banayega toh bache ko main dekh rahi hoon. Husband, of course, saath mein dekhega. Par aaj kal sab cheezon mein pressure bohot ho gaya hai."
The comment made by Suniel didn’t sit well with the netizens. Many users expressed their anger on Reddit. One Redditor wrote, "Bhai apni image khud hee kharab kar raha h ... Sometimes being quiet is the wisest thing, doesn't their PR team advise them? Or even people around them. Bro should learn from his damad ..." Another Redditor commented, "Don't get deceived by his looks or kind of role they play, Suniel is ultimately 60+ and has a mindset similar to many people in his age group." Drawing parallel with the typical mindset of Indian uncles, a Redditor wrote, "Typical indian uncle mindset..not surprised."
Calling the actor a misogynist, a Redditor commented, "So he’s a typical misogynist." Another Redditor wrote, "The more he speaks, the more despicable he gets. Misogynist prick! Their true colours." A user seemed dissatisfied by the actor’s comment, and wrote, "I thought he was someone who understands women better and not limit them to raise kids and look after the home! Unfortunately, a loose statement by Mr. Shetty!" Calling the actor dumb, a Redditor wrote:
"Why are people giving him bhav? I don’t get it, not that anyone was his fan in the early years….now he shows up looking fit with a gym body, and that look is what is getting him attention. Most of these actors are just dumb people. Why do we expect anything sensible from them?"

In a past interview with News18, Suniel talked about his feelings to witness his daughter Athiya choosing natural delivery over C-section. He also boasted of his daughter for doing so. For the uninitiated, Athiya Shetty and her husband, KL Rahul, welcomed a baby girl, Evaarah, in March 2025. Sunil was quoted as saying:
"In a world where everybody wants the comfort of having a caesarean baby, she chose not to do that and had a natural delivery. I remember how every nurse and paediatrician in the hospital said that it was unbelievable how she went through the whole process."
