Amid Divorce Buzz, Sunita Says She Married Govinda Because He Looked Similar To Her Favourite Actor

Rumours of Sunita Ahuja and Govinda's divorce have been circulating for several months now. Although the couple has time and again dismissed such claims, a recent report stated that Sunita indeed filed for a divorce from the actor back in December 2024, on the grounds of cheating, cruelty and desertion. While Sunita is yet to react to the newfound buzz, their friends and family members have dismissed the claims that the couple is opting for divorce. Amid this, a recent interview with Sunita made rounds on social media, wherein she credited a famous Bollywood actor for being the main reason for her marriage. 

Sunita Ahuja reveals that she married Govinda as he used to resemble her favourite actor

While conversing on Eat Sleep Repeat, Sunita Ahuja expressed her love and admiration for Bollywood actor, Dharmendra. Sunita said that she liked no one other than Dharma Ji, and now, she likes Shah Rukh Khan, as he is a fine actor and a gentleman. Sunita stated that during her teenage years, she was enamoured with Dharmendra's skills and would often gush over the veteran actor. Sunita also shared that he married Govinda for the fact that he resembled Dharmendra. In Sunita's words:

"Mujhe baaki pasand nahi koi bhi, but now I am very fond of Shah Rukh Khan. I like him, he’s a gentleman. But when I was a teenager, I used to like only Dharam ji. Maine Govinda se shaadi hi isliye ki because he resembles Dharam ji. Dono Punjabi hai."

In the same interview, Sunita Ahuja talked about her love and admiration for Dharmendra, and mentioned that she even told Dharmendra that she got married to Govinda as he used to look like the veteran actor. She also revealed that Govinda played a role in the movie, Sandwich, which was inspired by Dharmendra, and her then-beau, now-husband's role actually reminded her of the veteran actor, which led her to marry him. She said:

"I once told Dharam ji also ki maine shaadi isliye ki isse kyunki ye thoda thoda aapke jaisa dikhta tha."

Sunita Ahuja reveals no one can love Govinda like her

In the same interview, Sunita Ahuja revealed that no one can love Govinda like she does. She mentioned that she knows everything minutely about her husband, because she loves him from within. Sunita stated that she's pretty much sure of the fact that no matter what one does, no one can beat her love for her husband. In the same interview, Sunita was asked which decade she prefers the most, the 90s or the 2000s. To this, she said that she prefers the 90s Govinda, and also, with folded hands, requests him to be like he had been before.

The recent buzz about Sunita and Govinda's divorce

A recent report by Hautterfly revealed that Sunita filed for divorce from Govinda on the basis of cheating and cruelty. It was also reported that while Sunita was present in the court hearings, Govinda had been missing them repeatedly. As soon as the news was circulated, it caused a stir outside. Recently, the couple's close ones opened up about the recent buzz, stating that despite the ups and downs, no one can break Govinda and Sunita's bond, and they won't be separated ever.
