'Lagi Ya Kisine Maar Di?' Sunita Ahuja Shares Her First Reaction To Govinda's Accidental Shooting

Sunita Ahuja, wife of Bollywood actor, Govinda, is not one to hold back when it comes to speaking her mind. Her candid remarks and sense of humour in interviews often leave fans in splits. Being married to the actor for over four decades, Sunita seems to have kept the spark alive with her calm demeanour in crises and tendency to lighten sombre moods with funny quips. Govinda’s accidental gunshot injury in October 2024 left fans in shock, but his wife, Sunita Ahuja’s reaction was an unexpected mix of worry and humour.

Sunita Ahuja shares her first reaction after learning about Govinda’s gunshot incident

Recently, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Sunita recalled how she got the news that Govinda had been shot in the foot while handling his revolver. She was out of Mumbai at that time, away from home. She received a call from her driver early in the morning with the shocking news that Govinda was shot. When Govinda himself took the phone and confirmed the accident, she joked whether he had shot himself. Recalling the day, Sunita shared:

“At early morning, my driver calls me saying, ‘Sahab ko goli lag gayi’. I said ‘lagi ya kisini maar di?’ That’s when he said, ‘revolver rakh rahe the, gir gaya’. Then Govinda spoke to me saying goli lag gaya. I told him, ‘Tumne kahi khud toh nahi maar diya’. He said, ‘Abhi bhi Mazak soojha raha hai’ That’s when I told him not to panic and calm down.”

Despite the humour, Sunita was quick to take charge, instructing their daughter Tina not to panic and rush Govinda to the hospital. After hearing from Govinda, she worried he might get a heart attack. In Sunita’s words:

“I feared he might get a heart attack. I called Tina, who was at home, and told her not to panic and take him to the hospital. I never panic in any situation.”

Sunita’s carefree comments often leave people around her at a loss for words. Earlier, in an interview with Hindi Rush, Sunita had similarly joked about her husband’s shooting incident. Govinda was about to leave for Kolkata to spend Durga Puja when the unfortunate incident happened. Sunita, who was in Bangkok at that time, got the call from her driver in the middle of her meditation, but she decided to receive it the second time it rang, knowing that Govinda must have asked him to call her.

Despite her concern, Sunita managed to stay calm and lighten the situation. Even after she reached the hospital, she maintained her comedic composure. She shared with Hindi Rush the fun banter that took place between the couple:

“Even when I reached, I asked him, ‘Tune khud hi maara hai kya? Laga bhi toh yahan par, jahan par lagna chahiye tha vahan nahi laga?’ He said, ‘Khush toh bahut hogi tum’. I said, ‘Khush toh tab hoti jab seene mai lagta’.”

Well, there is no doubt that Govinda and Sunita Ahuja’s house thrives on happiness and shared laughter!
